Fun (or not so fun) fact - the author of the “BBC bias” memo is a lobbyist for the American Pharmaceutical Group.

U.S. pharma companies recently threatened to abandon the UK unless the NHS pays more for its medicines.

They also donated millions to Trump’s campaign and inauguration

don't remember if I've mentioned this before. tell anyone you see using Google to do this.

hiding "actually do what I asked" is another expression of the paternalistic techbro mindset that gives you "yes" or "not now" options for an unwanted new feature or only lets you hide something "for a while"
This is in no way apologism for Google but click Search Tools and select "Verbatim". It makes it work how you expect

There’s a good chance the British Prime Minister’s main adviser on AI is an OpenAI shareholder - but the government refuses to say whether she is.

Our huge, heartfelt thanks to Sam Fender, who’s donated his £25,000 Mercury Prize winnings to Music Venue Trust... after already making sure £1 from every ticket on his recent tour went to support grassroots music venues.

It absolutely was not a mistake that the BBC edited and permitted that edit of a political person they disagreed with.
BBC’s Nick Robinson on #Trump #BBC row: “As ever..it’s clear that there is genuine concern about editorial standards+mistakes. There is also a political campaign by people who want to destroy the organisation that you are currently listening to. Both things are happening at the same time.”

Video editing and text editing are not the same thing. Also, newspapers are not publicly funded and do not run anti-disinformation operations called BBC Verify.

Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

I know we often get told to 'live in the moment', & there's wisdom in that, but I hear less about the merits of finding something in the future to look forward to. Even if the future is 'this evening' & the something is 'the last of the bread pudding in the fridge', it's great medicine.

Boom!

A good deal of my time spent on the beach at Jökulsárlón is trying to capture waves hitting icebergs, without the iceberg moving (and being blurred). Occasionally it all comes together :)

Green party leader Zack Polanski was seen sporting a white poppy alongside a red one for Remembrance Sunday today - but what does a white poppy mean?

Not a fan of the kids using "boy sober" as a cutesy way to describe being single and not dating. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our traditional identity of "independent hag sitting atop gnarled clifftop tree, swooping down on leathery wings to scoop up her enemies in her terrible claws"

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

Incredible shit here: the man who provided the template for stomping on the BBC when it displeases malicious actors in politics, complaining that malicious actors in politics are using his template for stomping on the BBC for displeasing them.

The BBC has been biased for years. They've just been caught out about it now because liberals want to give the Right a fair chance (compared to the Left).

That's my 2p about the whole situation.
