Started Strange Animals, by Jarod K. Anderson, tonight. Cryptonaturalism and thoughtfulness. I'm already about 2/3rds through it, but the... atmosphere of it is going to stay with me for a while. A definite recommendation from me.

I remember about a year ago when my incredibly technologically reticent 82yo father asked "What's this AI stuff about?" and I nearly shat out my soul.
I told him "It's not intelligence, it just takes a big sample size and slaps things together. It's accidentally accurate the bigger the data set."
