Another soul weighed down by gravity. I love to think about RPGs and manga.

I have a background in political sociology, but I try to keep that off the tl. Here’s to hoping for a better world.

Ask yourself this: Do you want this to be the future of your anime watching experience, forever? If your answer is no, then act on it! If you are a journalist or anyone with a platform, talk about this! If you know such people, urge them to do so! Use my article as base! Now, before it's too late!

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Lots of “well duh” responses here, but I found this to be pretty interesting:

Even if the quality of the information given is the same, just the process of receiving it from a prompt makes you less likely to internalise it.

Anyone who conceptualizes winter as [cold weather] has clearly never experienced not seeing daylight for months on end.
People who hate winter and hate the cold are exhibiting motherless behavior. nobody taught you how to layer your clothing? A skill issue! You were not destined to survive the winter! You shame your ancestors, buy a thermal knit shirt and some real wool!!!
i need all the "waaaaa i hate winter" people to shut the hell up because it's 91 degrees out at the end of fucking october and i need you complainers to stop manifesting the mass ecological destruction of global warming. put on a jacket while you still can

I think UC Gundam might have the best lore.

There's a lot of dates, events and fictional tech that nerds can dig into, but it's always secondary to the actual narratives of the shows.

It's cool when it gives context to a show, but if something is contradictory it's not a big issue.

I find these stories significantly less fun. Everyone should know that this is just trolling. Musk is not embarrassed by this, it’s not an L or some unintended fumble.

Every time someone shares Grok being unhinged, he wins. I would not know what Grok even is if people didn’t share posts like this.
oh my god i take it back, grok is amazing

This was brought you by:
Me being tired of getting recommended "lore videos" where people minutely describe everything that happens in a plot like it's not a story, but an amazon training video.

Only played a tiny bit yesterday, but it's like they made a DS game in the year of our lord 2025.

You can really feel the Devil Survivor influences!

I would love alternative sequels tbh

Make a KH1 sequel
my grumpy-old-woman-gamer opinion is that I hope the mumblings about a new half life are because they're announcing a sequel to half life 1

Been working on a thesis that rpgs are really two different genres trapped in a trenchcoat together.

Does this make sense for anyone besides me? In my mind there's a clear distinction between chrunchy, stat heavy games and more immersive "you're inhabiting more than a player avatar" sort of games.
November 19, 2025 at 1:12 PM
Personally, I think one of the core differences between W & JRPGs is whether attributes are considered fixed "scores" or as a stat array that dynamically increases.

In traditional CPRGs like Baldur's Gate and Fallout, attributes (mostly) stay the same, where in DQ and FF they increase all the time
November 18, 2025 at 9:57 AM
The core issue with the term "JRPG" will always be that people use it to refer to two different things.

There's the DQ-style "3-4 dudes in a line taking turns" kinda game (like FF, DQ and SMT).

This is what most people who don't play them refer to when they say "jrpg".

The latter attitude is especially more productive when you pair it with "what made me like this particular example?" Because chances are, there is plenty more where that came from.
I wonder if it's a specific personality trait to always reach the conclusion of "I don't usually like X, but I like [the new popular example of X]" instead of "Maybe I should check out more of X?"
i feel bad for the e33 devs that they made this game because they loved jrpgs and the average fan of it thinks its the only good rpg ever

I find the idea of "placeholder loading screen art" hilarious.

It's a fucking loading screen, why does it even need a placeholder?
