Another soul weighed down by gravity. I love to think about RPGs and manga.

I have a background in political sociology, but I try to keep that off the tl. Here’s to hoping for a better world.

Highly recommend the Noclip doc about the creation of Disco Elysium. A lot of great stuff here

I remember on Twitter, a guy got really mad at me for saying that the term "Saberface" existed before FGO.

Which is funny to me, because I left the Type-Moon fandom before FGO was a thing, so how could I have been familiar with it otherwise lol, but he simply wouldn't believe me.

I think about this every time someone mentions difficulty in RPGs.

these videos unironically makes you appreciate just how much work and talent goes into game dev
Project Genie is an an experimental research prototype that Google gave @jaypeters.net access to this week, though he may not be using it in exactly the way Google intended.

Here's Jay's version of something like Super Mario 64:

not to turn into an Anelace stan account, but it really is such a missed opportunity to not have her return in the Calvard arc of all places
Gotta say though, of all the glowups, the one who benefited the most is def Anelace. She already had great crafts in SC, but the way they reworked her to be a more rough & tumble 8 leaves user makes her so satisfying to watch

She's a lot more distinct now in the sea of swordsmen in the series

sometimes I wonder why certain english phrases and idioms got lodged in my mind

like I use "lo and behold" constantly in my writing and I have zero clue where I picked that up

I think the valuable lesson we've all learned by now is that you should never, ever, ban hentai from the forums

flat out hilarious that the comparison with the original is in the most unbelievable crummy 4:3 footage

some might say that it's to make the new footage pop more, but I firmly believe it's because Falcom isn't aware that the English PC version is available in glorious 1080p

people are going apeshit over the epstein/moot connection and take it as evidence of some great causal link

and not like, as an indication that the nascent /pol/-mindset was prominent across social layers in 2011, not just forum posters

The Second Chapter trailer looks beautiful, but I can’t help but chuckle, that even with the extreme bump in animation quality, they still toned down some of the crafts and enemy attacks.

Like Kevin shooting in midair was dope, why did they not keep that?

my old ruriko pixel art from 2022 pretty much only looked good up close where you can really see all the details and dithering. For some reason I drew this in gimp even though I already had aseprite at that point

In light of Darren Arronovsky’s AI slopfest, I’m becoming obsessed with his history of plagiarizing Satoshi Kon.

Apparently they met one time and Arronovsky had the fucking gall to ask Kon if he enjoyed getting ripped off.

It just hit me that ICE is receiving 170 *billion* dollars in funding.

That’s such an unbelievable amount of money.

It’s more than Russia’s *total* defense budget!

It’s more than China’s national infrastructure investments!

One of the world’s largest public expenditures is used on masked goons!

It can't really be overstated how much Takeuchi was popping off with his work on Fate Stay/Night.

Just seminal imagery.

It reassures me observing these tech hype cycles, that no matter how much ppl on top push the next hot thing, the ppl on the ground will eventually push back.

All the investor capital in the world can do zilch against "This sucks, you can't force me to use it".

We killed NFTs, we'll kill this.
"Our standing rule is: If one of us brings up using GenAI in any of our work, then it's safe to assume we've been assimilated by The Thing and should be burned alive by Kurt Russell," said a game design consultant in the US.
Over 50% of game developers now think generative AI is bad for the industry, a dramatic increase from just 2 years ago: 'I'd rather quit the industry than use generative AI'
The latest GDC survey also found that managers are more likely to use generative AI than their employees.
