The kidnapping of Maduro inaugurates a highly dangerous era of U.S. empire that for perhaps the first time in an era of mass media is not pretending to be anything other than a violent, extractive enterprise of domination.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

It's white supremacy and eugenics all the way down
It’s not even “are these people racist?” It’s “do these people have any beliefs at all besides white supremacy?”
Like, this an actual post from an actual government social media account, posted in the last hour.

Much-needed analysis of the uses of moral panics by conservatives: to undermine collective efforts for investments in social services. The latest is to provide cover to disinvest in childcare (forcing women back into the home) and push racist narratives (fueling their anti-immigrant hysteria)
"These attacks are baseless, racist, and despicable. And yet, they’re taking a page out of the same moral panic playbook the GOP has been running for decades to undermine public investment in childcare and achieve its broader (and often misogynistic) policy aims."

Another right-wing moral panic that'll make the lives of kids, parents, and care workers worse off

So, another win for the pro-life crowd
They are denying kids childcare and complicating parents’ lives over a racist moral panic drummed up by a fascist disinformation merchant.
The Trump administration paused child care payments to multiple Minnesota day cares following allegations that they improperly collected millions of federal dollars, the latest federal action against the state as it grapples with investigations into fraud in its social welfare system.

Sympathizing with a conspiracy-addled politician because their party *is* the conspiracy is just punching yourself and everyone else in the groin.

MTG isn't a small-L liberal or someone that celebrates democracy. She just wants to cause harm (especially toward trans people).

Daycare centers were also the primary target of the Satanic panic, because fundamentally American religious conservatism is opposed to women having jobs outside the home.
Trump guys are about to Comet Pizza every third daycare center because they think they are all fronts for Somali money laundering. They're only doing this near cities with progressive mayors. This is straight up Government by LibsOfTikTok.

Abstract away far enough and anything can be justified. MTG isn't a liberal or someone that celebrates democracy. She just wants to cause harm.
there is no moral universe in which someone who ran on QAnon and supported a coup is pro-democracy, and if there is, it’s worse than worthless
The pro-democracy movement needs to include factions which we disagree with vehemently on all other matters.

That’s the point of a pro-democracy movement—we aren’t aligned on the direction of our society, but we all agree we should have a right to contest it freely and fairly.

The “fun” thing about the kennedy center freakout is that conservatives have been carving out “creative” exceptions to anti discrimination laws so they can be bigots to ordinary people just trying to make a purchase, but if actual artists don’t want to perform for the god king they must be punished

The entire conservative legal movement and philosophy of “originalism” is premised on the illegitimacy of any SCOTUS decision that doesn’t fit the GOP party platform

And as @quinnslobodian.com shows, the conservative movement has tried to naturalize this inequality to make it appear that policy can't fix it. Non-white people just aren't biologically capable of achieving wealth, status, and power.
Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

The MAGA movement is motivated primarily by cruelty and enjoying the suffering of others. Allows fundamentally broken people be able to feel something (and that something surely isn't socially positive)

Glad blue states are stepping up
Attorneys General in 20 blue states are challenging the Trump administration's attempts to unilaterally end gender affirming care for youth through executive decree.

That and two other court cases show that the fight for trans rights is just getting started.

Intimidation of doctors and invasion of patient privacy are being fought in the courts. A radical right-wing assault on academic freedom is headed there as well. The week’s top trans news story lines.

They really are just making sh*t up to ensure past, present, and future white people aren't asked to account for or remedy the impacts of racial discrimination. They're just trying to apply orginalism to people's actions now
Once you’re an American citizen, you are in fact free to spew venom or shower praise on your American ancestors, no matter how much the pathetic legal hacks rationalizing the MAGA madness might contort themselves.

There’s no two-tiered citizenship here and anyone who insists otherwise can get bent
So what he's saying here is that Roger Taney is part of that adoptive family which must be worshipped but Frederick Douglass and David Walker and and William Lloyd Garrison and other fantastic spewers of venom against the founders were not

Originalism but applying it to people
They're desperate to rationalize "heritage American" as if it's some serious intellectual theory and not a white nationalist twitter meme. Which doesn't work because it is, in fact, just a white nationalist twitter meme.
