TFW you decide to build an MMU for the 68010 for a home-brew that would be absolutely stupid to build but dammit you're going to build anyway. #m68k #retrocomputing

It's a neat trick to say "get beyond the argument" when implicitly you mean "by accepting my position"
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says people should move beyond calling AI 'slop'

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium ... that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other"

something very important for Dems to realize is that the tech overlords are not people you can win back by promising a lighter touch and saying a few nice things

they’ve gotten a taste of mask-off fascism and they are not going back, they don’t want to play nice with the peons anymore
There’s a funny Politico story showing that the latest polling on AI shows 80-20 in favor of heavy regulations, an absolute slam dunk platform, but Dems are worried about not winning back mask-off tech CEO donors

Over the past couple of days, I spent some time making sure that #NetBSD can still run on a Sun 2/120 (well, at least a very accurately emulated one). dmesgd.nycbug.org/dmesgd?do=vi...

ELEVEN FUCKING DAYS for a $100 wooden model to clear customs that would have sailed through before with a ship time of 7-10 days because of de minimus. It will not arrive in time for Christmas.

And no, it's not a cheap Asian import. And no, there's no alternative US supplier of said model.

Trying to finish this sucker today. Every 30 seconds or so there’s some wonderful line like “I always wanted to direct a Hamlet and have all the parts played by ex-livestock auctioneers. I wanted the performance to come in under 14 minutes.”

i don't think this is even a real statistical anomaly anymore. it seems like there's someone in the crowd at every mass shooting who has been through it before. this doesn't have to be our shared cultural experience.
