This was murder. Trump is defending a murder, a murder committed on his behalf.

America is not being made safe. It is becoming more dangerous each and every day because Donald Trump is a criminal who commands and encourages others to commit crimes on his behalf—as he has done for years.
Trump: "I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting ... "

No US oil company should risk investing in Venezuela. Companies that take part in Trump's lawless takeover of Venezuela's resources should keep in mind that any American tax dollars they take to invest in a foreign country will be recovered by the next administration.

what this should make clear to everyone in this country is that it does not matter who you are, there's no "it could never happen to me"

you can be a white woman who drives around with stuffed animals in her car, and they will still kill you in cold blood and call you a domestic terrorist
The murdered woman's glove compartment is filled with stuffed animals.

DHS officials are already leaking that there are serious problems with how the ICE officer handled this.

"Officers are also instructed not to shoot at a moving vehicle and only to use force if there is an immediate risk of serious injury or death, the official said."

Attacking a foreign country to seize natural resources and profit from them was already illegal, wrong, and bad strategy. And that's if the profits went back to the country.

It looks like taxpayers paid for a military operation that netted money for the president's private accounts or slush fund.
??? Apparently Venezuela oil revenues will go into “offshore accounts” outside of the US Treasury, PBS reports.

Hey, media, here's your headline:
"Video shows Trump and Noem lying about ICE's killing of woman in Minneapolis."
It's not a "he said, she said." There's video that shows ICE wasn't acting in self-defense. Facts exist. Everything isn't a matter of opinion. Stop being cowards.

This bizarre, taxpayer-financed White House account of what occurred on Jan. 6, 2021, is Soviet-level propaganda. It's history through the looking glass after a couple hits on the opium pipe. I point it out so you can grasp how much the Republicans are trying to destroy the very concept of truth.

It is equally easy & possible to write, "Trump weighs violating US treaty commitments under the UN and NATO by seizing the sovereign territory of one of our closest allies" You don't have to normalize & sanewash reality. Other purely factually accurate, more serious choices remain readily available.
“.. The President and his team are discussing a range of options to pursue this important foreign policy goal, and of course, utilizing the U.S. Military is always an option at the Commander in Chief’s disposal,” she said.

Excellent piece by Greg Sargent on how Trump wants to organize the world based on legitimized plunder. The criminals are telling us they're criminals and daring us to stop them.
Trump just said "all" of Venezuela's oil must be made accessible to US oil companies. Trump wants to emulate Putin's model: Authoritarian, expansionist rulers carving up their regions and distributing the spoils of conquest to friendly oligarchs. 1/

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
