there was an amazing article about exactly this somewhere

in the old days where everyone was paid well and was unionized, this chart was reversed, living expenses were cheap but luxuries like TVs and whatnot were what you had to save up for. You could live a comfortable life if you were frugal
Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

Only a couple of major news outlets (CNN, USA) are covering this at all. You would think if the goal was clicks and views, this would be all over the media. If clicks are not the goal, it makes you think about: what is?

I never ask people to retweet/reskeet something I've posted, but this is REALLY important to me and to a lot of dedicated, hardworking people who've been shit on over and over again for the last 10 months.
PLEASE reskeet this and PLEASE call your Senators and Representatives.
Thanks to the Epstein files, all of America knows what a Discharge Petition is.
Here's another one that's reached 218 signers-- the Protect America's Workforce Act, that would undo Trump's unlawful anti-union executive orders.

Jeez, any time I think about Overwatch anymore I just get sad seeing what the IP has become.
A new character trailer dropped and it both hurt my eyes and baffled me because I have no idea who this is supposed to be and why the hell I am supposed to care.
It looks like a League fan animation, FFS!

Thinking that there is any cultural value to wholly AI-generated media is the equivalent of looking at a piece of toast with a burn in a vaguely humanoid shape & arguing that toast is now worth millions of dollars because you insist that there is some profound, spiritual meaning to be found in it.
Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

So I did the thing after some encouragement to update the goal. Not fussed if we don't hit it, but that cushion would make the next 3 -4 months much easier since job hunting is... demoralizing at best.

Hopefully no one sees this as greedy, or milking folks who want to help out. gofund.me/68950306a

Expropriate their asses instead.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

@govpritzker.illinois.gov I want you to watch this video of me slammed to the ground- why are you allowing this to happen to people you know are on the right side of history. They tied my hands behind my back and when I asked them to be loosened because I was going numb they said, “STFU.”
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

Crimes are only crimes when they are committed by unprivileged individuals.
When they are committed by institutions (or the privileged those institutions protect) they are "tragedies" punished by inconsequential monetary fines.
When they are committed by authorities, they are simply never punished.

Monetary economics is & always has been nothing more than a system of power enabling the extortion of human survival.
If we are to accept the "inalienable human rights" of "life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness" we must abolish all such systems which limit free access to the necessities of life.

If companies are legally people and we choose to legally execute people for certain crimes, we should be able to liquidate/nationalize a company when they commit similar crimes.

It's unsettling how many people fell for the claim that an administration that hires open Nazi sympathizers and does a bunch of Nazi-like stuff is "fighting antisemitism."

Some want to believe, agreeing with the regime's anti-free-speech and anti-academic freedom goals. But some just fell for it.
