These are the Democrats that voted alongside Republicans today to end the shutdown. They voted for a package that does nothing to extend the healthcare coverage that millions of people will be losing.

I believe the Hollywood Sikh temple in Los Feliz does langar every night at 6:30pm and Sundays 10:30am
Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.

A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

This is why I didn’t go to cons for the longest time. I still can’t afford the costs of table fees, travel, hotel, dogsitting, and then printing or ordering stuff to sell. I’m grateful to have been invited as a guest at more shows this year.
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"
The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

Lots of lovely folks want to cook for neighbors, fill community fridges during SNAP shutdown but are intimidated. A mutual aid group in Flatbush, Brooklyn has been feeding 80+ people every single week for a year and a half or so now. Nobody is born knowing how to cook for 80, so here's our guide!

Today is Día de los Muertos for beloved pets who have passed, so I hope everyone who has lost a fur- (or feather, or fin, or scale-) baby is blessed with happy memories of them today. I’m thinking about my old guy Bones and how he lives on in my art.
