I follow the quiet signs—
deer tracks by the creek,
water moving forward,
small miracles underfoot.

Nature keeps reminding me that renewal is real, that light finds its way back, even after the storm.

Back on my Wuthering Heights odyssey... today it's the 1967 Ian McShane one.
It's really good.

Tonight's film was... 28 Years Later: the Bone Temple.
Wow. Even better than the last.
Nia DaCosta knocked it out the park. Black female horror director ftw 🙌🏽
The human tenderness at the heart of these films is the ultimate subversion of the genre.
And the lush colour palette of those landscapes.

Playing The Alters - space base building branching narrative game. Holy crap it's stressful. My guy was dying but I had to build the outpost to mine the minerals so I could make an infirmary, but then there was a radiation storm.
But I like it...

Last night's film was... People We Meet on Vacation.
Booktokstagram loves Emily Henry and based on this film I can see why.
It was a fun romance. Loved it.
Perfect salve on a terrible start to the year back at work 😞

Rewatching S2 of Bridgerton (the only genuinely good season) and it's taken me this long to realise Benedict is younger than Anthony!? But he acts and looks older. I was trying to figure out why they'd skipped the eldest & thought I'd missed him abdicating (if viscounts can do that).

Watching the new Harlan Coben the guy who specialises in British middle-class suburban Netflix thrillers.
They're fine but the writing on this one is giving second screen dialogue.
I've seen Lucian Msamati on stage. I know he can act & Alfred Enoch.
They talk like robots but make insane decisions...

Having to fast forward through a movie every single fkg time just to watch the end credits because Netflix insists on kicking you out at the end of a film with stupid previews to totally unrelated things is such a dirty windup!!

Reading the history of the notebook - tech that led to modern accounting in 14th c. Florence & sketchbooks led to drawing from nature/Renaissance art. A Dangerous Liaisonsesque downfall in Louis XIV's court; notebooks detailing corruption, seduction & blackmail on a grand scale!
So good 🙌🏽 📓

I found this podcast by 2 British architects. They read The Fountainhead & discuss it, as it's about an architect.
I have peripheral awareness of this work. It's content is really shocking. Also a blueprint for Trumpism.
Scary how casually ppl mention it as a reference bc 🚩🚩🚩

I do like a sports corporate drama.

The way "a billion" is being normalised as if these are totally normal figures for a movie to make.
One. Billion.
I don't want to get to a place where I don't think that's a lot.

Tonight's film is... Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit. It's a Filipino Wuthering Heights adaptation.

It's giving telenovela vibes with the sentimental music but the passion is dialled down. They were just on first base for a really long time on a clifftop. The scenery is gorgeous though.

I'm still on holiday for a week (2025 was A LOT) so I'm going to continue eating cake and watching movies, interspersed with cross stitch and reading.

Why don't y'all ever listen to us!!!???
