Even if you don’t want to raise a family- most of us feel protective about children. When a toddler hugs my leg in a grocery store my instinct is to care for them until their adult is back. If someone wants to kidnap their adult that breaks the social construct beyond recognition
90% of people don't give a fuck about politics, they just want to raise a family and watch sports and live their lives in peace

But when you terminally fuck with their ability to do that in a direct and obvious way, they get VERY UPSET, and that is how revolutions historically happen

Roses are red
Congress is too 🤬
They let the ACA credits expire
Because they want to kill you

Community cares
And we can do better
If you want a change
Send your reps a letter

Vaccines save lives
Public health share tools
We need to fund them
And abolish ICE too

Patients are blue,
to see their premiums spike,
now that the bill is due.

The Senate blocked action,
The President, too
to extend the tax credits
to help millions like you.

The genuine joy and love for the city and its residents is such a breath of fresh air. One of the things I have found most frustrating with the SF mayors is they kept buying into the doom loop everything is bad. ‘We’re wonderful and can be better’ is much more compelling
Everyone in the world comes to get married at the NYC Marriage Bureau. Last week, the Mayor stopped by to officiate a few of those ceremonies.

Thank you to all the couples who shared their joy with us. Happy Valentine's Day, New York.

Generative AI promises to make cognitive dissonance entirely vanish. No matter what you believe, it'll confirm it, it'll regurgitate media that minimizes having to feel the discomfort of cognitive dissonance.

And it does so at a vast scale, a flood of comforting sewage to drown yourself in.

At some point I feel like countries around the world will require quarantining if you’re coming from the US at this rate.

Abolish ICE is the moderate position.
Just noting this because I have cited the trends a lot recently: Tracking data from Civiqs now shows a plurality of the public favors abolishing ICE, with 47% in support and 46% opposed. Independents are net +5 on abolish, up from -40 a year ago substack.com/profile/4791...

This seems very cool if they can make it work. When I was recovering from a broken foot I changed my social habits based on my physical endurance not desire for social connection. Something like this to keep up for longer would have made a huge difference

NEW: Hundreds of judges around the country have ruled more than 4,400 times since October that President Donald Trump’s administration is detaining immigrants unlawfully, a Reuters review of court records found.

The government keeps doing it nonetheless.

Millions of people are going to die to protect one man who is the architect of Project 2025.

His roadmap is to literally cause death and destruction to pave the way for white “Christian” nationalism.

Starting by taking money that was providing life saving aid is right on brand.

I’m very happy for Shaidorov winning a gold medal for Kazakhstan. I’ve barely been there (like 24 hours 16 years ago) but every Kazakh person I’ve met has been overjoyed to learn that I found their country beautiful and the people hospitable. Getting a moment on the world stage means a lot.

Forget Ilia Malinin for two seconds.
This is Kazakhstan's first Winter Olympic gold medal since Lillehammer 1994, when Vladimir Smirnov won the men's 50km cross-country skiing.
That was 10 years before Mikhail Shaidorov was born.

Skating federation backs French judge in Olympic Chock and Bates ice dance controversy
MILAN — Nearly two days after a controversial scoring decision resulted in American ice dancers Madison Chock and Evan Bates taking home silver rather than gold, the noise hasn’t quieted down over whether a French judge helped the French pair Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron stand atop the podium. On Friday, the International Skating Union said it stands by the judge in question, Jezabel Dabouis, who favored Beaudry and Cizeron by nearly eight points in the free skate over Chock and Bates. Five of the nine judges favored the American couple, with the remaining three choosing...
