As I do every year, I've compiled a list of #oscars nominations and their availability on Canadian streaming services, so you can get caught up before the ceremony on March 15.

Over the last year, I've been taking a number of policy courses on the global Arctic. A big focus was the impact of climate change on sea ice and shipping routes. /1

He does not want Star Trek. He wants to co-opt the aesthetic of Star Trek to sell his techno-feudalist futurist wet dream. Star Trek hates men like him.
"We want to make Star Trek real," said Elon Musk.

"We want to make Starfleet Academy real so that it's not always science fiction, but one day the science fiction turns to science fact."

These remind me of the Antarctic Hägglunds I got to ride in several years ago in Christchurch that they use during Antarctic expeditions.

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

This was also true of the Beer Hall Putsch, as I pointed out back in 2021. Hitler was hardly punished then turned his eyes to electoral victory instead of violent insurrection. He quickly consolidated total control after taking power. America is now approaching that same moment.
Five years ago, I would have bet his house that Republican voters’ patriotism, faith convictions, and simple humanity would have surfaced, and they would reject this violent lawlessness once and for all. I was spectacularly wrong."~ John Pavlovitz

If you think what's happening in Venezuela doesn't matter to Canadian sovereignty, I'll remind you that Canada is the world's 4th largest oil extracting nation (Venezuela is 18th) and that Alberta separatists have publicly stated that they are regularly meeting with US officials.

Across the country, again and again, the numbers told the same story: Either “business activity remained pretty much constant,” Liu says, or “certain types of businesses became much more prosperous.”
I read all the studies on the economic impact of bike lanes. Here's what I learned.
Research proves that bike lanes are good for business. So why do so many stores and restaurants still oppose them?

Mark Carney will not stumble because he lacks intelligence or seriousness.

He risks stumbling if he grows impatient with the need to explain himself to the public and earn permission in plain language.

We should have implemented a universal basic income in 1975 and indexed it to grow as productivity grew. That was the only realistic way of ensuring that productivity growth benefited all of us. To this day, UBI remains the most important thing to start to make sure we *ALL* benefit from GDP growth.
Since 1975, $79 trillion in wealth has been redistributed from the bottom 90% to the top 1% — a 1% that now owns more wealth than the bottom 93%.

We can respect innovation & entrepreneurship, but we cannot respect the extraordinary greed that now exists.

We need a wealth tax.
