Many political leaders and pundits would rather lose than build worker power with women and POC at the front, because their brains are so hooked on images of white male heirarchy in ways they can't even see.
There's a lot to unpack, digest and consider here, though some of the solutions they suggest seem unworkable.
But it's striking to me that they dismiss @aoc.bsky.social as "AOC at the Met gala," when she is actually an example of a working-class candidate with great communication skills who wins.

After speaking in support of approved protest here I want to add something after watching the No Kings follow-up mass call on youtube.
The calls to action were "Call your Senator." and "Join your local indivisible." [who will tell you to call your Senator].
Not great, bob.

I think the conversation about No Kings and permitted mass marches is a good one & most folks are doing a good job having it.
But some folks are VERY touchy about anyone questioning this tactic & they should take a look at their defensiveness. It's ok to talk about the limits of approved protest.
But some folks are VERY touchy about anyone questioning this tactic & they should take a look at their defensiveness. It's ok to talk about the limits of approved protest.
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.

Man some of this masculinity stuff is people earnestly grappling with identity and belonging in a time of disconnection and some of it is people accustomed to power being angry that the signifiers of patriarchal hierarchy are going away and we need to be smart enough to tell that stuff apart.
