Over 50% of nonviolent movements to overthrow governments are successful within one year of their peak.

The key is to engage over 3.5% of the country, a cross-section of society—clergy, kids, grandmas, teachers) using DIVERSE & CREATIVE tactics, with women in leadership.

We can do this.

My new piece - on the meaning of what is happening in Minneapolis.

The Trumpists will continue to escalate. But they lack an effective strategy to consolidate authoritarian rule.

Trump’s authoritarian desires are limitless. But his ability to impose them on America is not.
Der Minneapolis-Moment offenbart die Schwächen der Trumpisten. Und er zeigt, wo der Widerstand gegen den US-Präsidenten in Zukunft erfolgreich ansetzen kann.

if they pick Warsh, its because they think he has a better chance of delivering lower rates. The "hawk" thing is actually helpful

Said elsewhere, Trump might be wrong about Warsh, but Trump's track record this time around has been more consistent in picking people who will do what he wants. So the assumption should be that if Warsh gets the job he's going to try and lower rates.

Sure sounds like Kevin Warsh is Trump's Fed Chair choice

His views mostly change based on which master he intends to serve, and general partisan convenience.

Thought rates were too low until...November 2024. What a shocker

The long-term borrowing costs that American businesses, families, and Uncle Sam face...those are based on more than one election cycle

If you're going to cut rates to please the current President, there's some additional inflation or future rate hikes that also get priced in...
What you can expect from Warsh as Fed Chair
-More emphasis on what suits POTUS if it's a Republican
-Sudden concerns about inflation and fiscal deficits the moment it's not an R in the WH.

Don't expect the Fed to be a good-faith broker if govt is divided in the next crisis

Trump wanted low rates but when you pick the most partisan guy on the basis of obsequiousness, he may not get what he wants...

Also doesn't help when the dollar has shown persistent weakening for the first time in a while.

OUR COUNTRY IS LITERALLY DOING A FASCISM RIGHT NOW. This is the most delusional cope I've seen in a long time. Everyone is vulnerable to being groomed for a cult, every nation is vulnerable to fascism. It's foolish to believe otherwise. Republicans are fascists. We have them, they're doing fascism.

This really is the purest example I can imagine of a terminal case of pundit brain. This is the end point of American exceptionalism: we will dig our own grave while explaining how we are a people uniquely incapable of digging a grave and this is a garden, actually

With all the arrests, re-upping my piece on how the church protesters are in the right — and this church is worse than you imagine.
I looked into Cities Church, which was protested for having an ICE agent as a pastor.

You already thought they were right-wing. But they're far worse than you thought.

They're ground zero for the "empathy is a sin" idea, among others.
