Watching righteous movies about speaking truth to power for some reason
Everyone dunking on the no ceiling concept clearly never listened to Lil Wayne. Not saying it works in a political context but there’s a precedent for the term.

It's wild how "our intellectual elite are a bit morally smug" warrants the same article being pushed out saying as much for a decade, but a global paedophile ring in which many of our richest and most powerful and leading minds all took part is, you know, uncouth to talk about.
Someday you, too, could have the moral fortitude to look upon a years-long rape circus organized by the nation's most powerful elites and declare, "The people upset about this are speaking about it the wrong way."

All current tech debates take place in the shadows of a sincere but deeply misguided utopianism that existed 15-25 years ago about the benefits to society of connecting everyone through an information superhighway.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

I'd look at it a little differently: Fetterman's one of the many elites microwaving their brains on sites like this; ergo, they massively overindex on "mean lefties being mean to me" in ways that genuinely influence policy. It explains where we are.

The real ask is that they should log off.
No one on this website will ever stop and think about whether bullying/rudeness actually gets us more allies or alienates people that we need.
Here's John Fetterman complaining on CNN about how mean Bluesky is to him -- and how the far-left is way more "poisonous" than the far-right.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I’ve realized that one of the things that makes me most dissatisfied with modern Canadian life (which is empirically great, overall), is reading Sherlock Holmes and envying his constant access to trains. Made my modern life seem small and less adventurous, too rushed and solitary.

I don't think we understand just how bad the decline of the Internet is to knowledge.

3 years ago, I could perform a very basic search in any engine and get an absurd number of relevant links, research articles, etc.

Today, I can perform the same search and find absolutely nothing.

I think a lot about how most big-city newspapers used to have a a couple of movie critics, a theater critic, a few book critics, an architecture critic, a music critic or two, an in-house cartoonist, at least two or three foreign correspondents, a fashion writer, and a whole staff of photographers
