one of the things that comes up in matranga's "the ant and the grasshopper" is that, going by skeletal evidence, the average pre-agriculture human experienced ~11 episodes of severe starvation *before adulthood*. agriculture brings this down to ~4

gonna reiterate a hobbyhorse of mine: 'let the ATF keep electronic records' is a good fight to pick on guns. it doesn't impact normie gun owners at all, it's an insane bit of GOP mandated dysfunction in government, and it's being "tough on crime" in a way that actually matters
