I wish more reporting on this made the point that novelists won't be displaced by LLMs suddenly producing literature instead of story mulch, but because decision makers focused only on the bottom line, who don't understand what makes a good book, will be persuaded story mulch has got 'good enough'.

Haz edited, closing up all the gaps in the WIP. Still some shifting of stuff to do and the ending to write, but getting there. That'll be the zeroth draft, with quite a lot more writing effort to put in, there's a lot of blocks of exposition there, it's pretty clumsy right now

It will take literally one court case where a company gets sued by a cis person for denying them access to toilets on suspicion of being trans for this all to fall apart.
And this guidance makes that case inevitable.

"We've had a complaint that another customer thinks you might not be a 'real woman'. There's no way for us to prove they're wrong so you can't use the toilet. No you can't use that toilet either. No we don't need to provide an alternative, there's not enough space."

The really interesting question about the Times story is who leaked the EHRC guidance document and why. The Government evidence in the GLP's judicial review last week seemed to indicate some weakening of the Government's resolve. It looks as if this is a crude attempt to bully the Government.
