My main money thing is figuring how to find stuff on the internet. Mostly finding people in the context of trying to offer them jobs. I consult, train and offer certification via https://sourcingcertification.com/. Slightly less new here, now.

Two Seth Moultons *and* the Nazi guy? Well, fuck Chuck, then.

(Plus alt text fraud.)
Here are the at least 6 House Democrats, 3 Democratic-aligned organizations, and 4 Democratic Senate candidates calling for Chuck Schumer to resign as leader:

Oof. So, no alt text, no link. Also, map literacy?

Strawrando makes a not incorrect claim that a lot of US food is grown in counties that vote Republican.

And you go off about states? California crop production isn't largely red counties?

Not like, wrong, generally, on any facts presented, but...
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

So, so, sooo many things can be true at once.

(Also, false at once.)

I would post more here, but the friction introduced by alt text often trips me up.

I try not to share, and will take back my like from, any graphics lacking alt text.

I also try to read the alt text, to make sure it isn't autogenerated. Because that is maybe worse than nothing.

The regime doesn't need justification for "martial law," or invoking the Insurrection anymore than they needed justification for demolishing the East wing.

What they DO need is time to make the transition feel gradual and inevitable and so far they have as much of it as they want.
It'll take time to fully execute, but they're setting most of us for subsistence in a company town and prison labor.

If things continue at our current trajectory we will fondly recall the exploitive gig economy.

Altman has been quite clear about his strategy.

From the 2008 crash he learned that if you bind enough of the economy to your business you can do whatever you like; government will decide the rules no longer apply.

What he's selling is unaccountabilty.
I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.

And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.

What does OpenAI offer the world?
“authors & publishers who filed a lawsuit against the Sam Altman-led firm have secured access to internal Slack messages… discussing the mass deletion of a pirated books dataset… A NY district court ordered OpenAI to hand over the communications regarding data deletion”

Get ya ears off the charger and listen:

“I don’t know what I want” doesn’t mean I’m not hungry. It means I’m about two inhales from being violently hangry & lack the executive function to navigate a menu. Know what I like to eat and FEED ME so no one gets hurt.

So, basically, put a finger down if you're a USian ~45 or older challenge?

Cool.

Also, rocking the boombox at a party is the opposite of antisocial, what're you on about?
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).

I am teh oldz.

Our global financial system is dependent on the exploitation of the poor.

The reason the technology does well on tests but fails in the real world is that the tests are bad.

This is why useless managers whose only skill is taking credit for others' work in interviews love AI so much: it's relatable!
AI's capabilities may be exaggerated by flawed tests, according to new study
A study from the Oxford Internet Institute analyzed 445 tests used to evaluate AI models.

On the flip side, if you see someone stealing wages, robbing the public trust, or preying on the vulnerable: yes you did.
If you see people stealing food to feed their families no you didn't.

He could tell the USDA to use contingency funds to ensure families get their SNAP benefits on November 1st, he’s just choosing not to.

Rhetorical, obvs, but for anyone who really asks this:

The parent was poor, thus irresponsible, thus morally unfit. The foster parent, by dint of volunteering to take on these unfortunate children, is obviously of good character.

And that's even before you factor in the racism!
Did you know that in America, if you don’t have the money for electricity, water, and sewage, they will take your children away and give them to someone they’re paying those things for? Make it make sense.

It really does sound like a 70s/80s spy thriller premise!
I thought this was metaphorical hyperbole but, alas, no. The Department of Energy is selling off more than 40,000 pounds of weapons-grade plutonium from the Cold War arsenal to nuclear reactor startups. All of which I’m sure will be thoroughly vetted and monitored by…their former board member.

Organize that number of people in 7 days? That’s just wild thinking.

We couldn’t get 80 million people to vote for MVP in 107 days.
