Earlier this week I flew to Oslo and gave a talk at Y-Oslo. It’s a talk about the human spirit, believing in yourself, how AI is bullshit, and how capitalism robs us of our confidence. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea or whatever makes you happy and enjoy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH2d...

"why isn't this web map I'm building showing up"
(a) forgot to load the map library CSS
(b) forgot to set a height on the map HTML element
(c) it's never any more complicated reason it's probably just (a) and/or (b) 🙃

I still hate moving, but I'm hopeful this (temporary) move will be worth the hassle! 🛤️

My kid's been excitedly telling everyone we'll be able to see the Red Sox stadium from our window! Let me clear the record that this is not true. 😂

Be back soon!

Watching an AI spend hundreds of tokens generating some code, just to be wrong, feels so deeply wasteful and offensive to me... I grew up way too poor to want to play slot machines here UGH

conference workshop organizers are losing the recipes, we're all trying to download Flutter (2GB) over a terrible venue wifi connection and it's going terribly. whereas if someone had downloaded it onto a USB we'd probably all be good by now..

(Public and shared infrastructure, whether mobility, energy, housing etc—is not about cost in discrete items but investment across broader systems. Gov can direct and deliver such things for public good, capturing and distributing returns equitably and strategically ie. don’t be asleep at the wheel)

I likely won't post much here because I'm enough of a nobody such that posting online feels too much like emitting messages into The Void and that feels gross and terrible for reasons I haven't been able to fully articulate but if you meet me IRL I'll probably be normal I guess
