Going to a small, local comic and nerd con tomorrow. It's not that I don't enjoy explaining what a TTRPG is to new people, but it is an 8 hour day, and not everyone wants to talk to vendors anyway... so I have made an introvert-friendly sign.
A white page with a pink header reading "I don't know what a roleplaying game is and I'm too afraid to ask." The rest of the page reads: A roleplaying game is like playing pretend, but with a few more rules to make it more exciting and unpredictable. In a GROUP game: Most members of the group play one character, the heroes of the story. One player is the "Game Master", who has extra responsibilities - describing the world and setting out the story's plot. Most games use dice to add some randomness. In a SOLO game: The solo games we make (there are other types) are more like guided creative writing. You make a character, and randomly generate prompts to see what happens to them.
