Meredith has always been a G, but it's still exceptionally weird and very refreshing hearing from a tech exec who can see through all of this AI bullshit for what it is at its foundation: a backdoor surveillance tool.
Worth a watch:
Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.

I've always had an issue with folks stating that sports is a distraction from what matters. Like we can't keep track of both sports and politics? Sports serves a distraction from our everyday reality, yes. But so does art, science-fiction, music, and whatever hobby outside of work and family.
Well-meaning folks on Bluesky who dismiss sportsball as some kind of distraction to What Matters Now are missing a key point in creating an alternative to X: Sports for better or worse dominates American culture. You ignore enormous swaths of potential allies when you dismiss sports.
Since the NBA season ended last night, here's my self indulgent take on where Sports Bluesky is atm. The TLDR is that crappy Resistance accounts are working like antibodies to flush casual sports ppl off this platform and the devs should address this if they actually want sports to take off here.

It's almost like we shouldn't give one person this amount of power and flexibility in wielding it.
In his first 100 days, Trump has declared more national emergencies — more creatively and more aggressively — than any president in modern history.
The emergency powers were originally designed to give the president flexibility in rare moments of crisis.

If Republicans cut $880 billion from Medicaid:
- Millions of children will lose their health care.
- Funding for community health centers will dry up.
- Your mom and dad may not be able to get the nursing home care they need.
