I'm officially on a mission to GTFO out of America as fast as I can.

Far Right Nazism made it into the White House and the far left Hamas supporters are committing weekly anti-Jewish terror attacks.

Meanwhile everyone on social media and the news continue to act like this is totally normal.

I grew up with Alex Pretti

The script they are using to justify the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti was workshopped and tested on the unlawful killings of Black men and women by the police. Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, Alton Sterling, etc…

the two choices in American politics are "yeah they're not exactly where I am on a lot of issues but there's also lots of overlap of my views"

and

"they are stabbing me in the balls with knitting needles right now"

and too many people say "this is the same"

Public service announcement:

Don't just ask Black voters to save democracy.
Respect Black candidates when they step forward to lead it.
Yes, we can cast ballots and we can be on the ballot.

Support who you want. Disrespect will be called out.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett: "They're Not Afraid I'll Lose, They're Afraid I'll Win."
We sit down with U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas for a deeply honest conversation about power, justice, and urgency. We trace her path from public defender and civil rights attorney to Congress and discuss how her current U.S. Senate run is rooted in lived experience and hard math. Rep. Crockett also explains why the system is designed to stay broken, why Black and Brown voters are key to changing Texas, and why waiting for permission is not an option when democracy is on the line. And throughout our conversation, she challenges the party’s comfort with “electability” narratives. -- Timestamps -- 00:00 - Intro & Welcoming Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett 01:58 - Elevating the Fight: From Public Defender to State House 05:52 - The Broken System: A 17-Year-Old's Felony for Stealing Candy 08:42 - The Fierce Urgency of Now: Why Jasmine Crockett is Running for Senate 13:01 - Changing the Math: Jasmine Crockett's Texas Senate Strategy 20:53 - Defying Doubters: Black Women's Power and Worth in Politics 26:52 - SYAD #AtOurTable #Politics #Democracy #VotingRights #Election2026 #JasmineCrockett #TexasPolitics #BlackWomenLead

They taught the party a lesson, just not the one they wanted.

They taught Dems that doing progressive things doesn't matter.

They taught Dems never to try anything they don't have the votes to do.

They taught Dems to never do anything that Republicans can block in court.

Good job, guys.

When Black women carry the party, it’s called loyalty.
When they seek to lead it, it’s suddenly called “risk.”

We talked about it plain and unfiltered in my conversation with @jasmineforus.bsky.social

This is the shot.

Journalism as it exists today is completely and utterly corrupted, and these institutions need to be completely purged from top to bottom. A modern society cannot exist without trustworthy sources of information.
Christ, this (from Lizza's latest) is pretty fucking damning of...literally the entire media(?) What the fuck?

Republicans do bad governance without fear because voters never hold it against them for more than two cycles in a row, if even that. Democrats fear bold policies because instead of paying off electorally, that immediately blow their rare majorities

I want to agree and believe you, but Dan Osborn lost by seven points. The reason red states are the way they are—undyingly loyal to Republicans who immiserate them—is because that’s what the voters want.

Ultimately the people are the problem.

You can definitely conclude that they had no leverage (I'm concluding that shutdowns are not something that Democrats can effectively leverage!).

I think the lesson from that is that they should have just averted the shut down to begin with and should in the future.

Folks, no party or faction that has triggered a shutdown has ever gotten its demands met in a shutdown. That was always the risk going in. People (like me) were saying you were going to have to deal with eventual disappointment going in.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
November 10, 2025 at 1:03 AM
I'm still of the unpopular opinion that the shutdown should never have happened.

If they weren't prepared to for the consequences of a long term shutdown, don't use it as a bargaining tool against a Republican party we all knew was never going to budge.

Historically that has never worked.
The government shutdown is a gift to Russ Vought and the heritage foundation.

One thing that strikes me is just how fake all of our problems related to government are

The filibuster isn't in the Constitution, and every single Framer would be apoplectic that it exists.

The government shutdown was invented in 1980

The 9-justices limit was invented to stop the New Deal
