There is not enough money in the world that would make me want to be on the side of a sheer cliff face, even if I was fit enough to make an attempt.

It’s now incredibly hard to believe he used to be scared on a roller coaster.

Even now, in the year 2025, I cringe at the thought of wearing ugg boots in public. I am a part of a certain generation of Aussie who was brought up to see them as house slippers. Not even WYB making them almost look stylish would encourage me to wear a pair in public.

In 1972, a cat commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These kittens promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune @thatwriterguy@mastodon.social

Thread. The details are atrocious, both then and now.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

In an oddly timed coincidence, both my children are going to be away for a while - one on a long-planned-for OS holiday, and the other interstate for work. It will be the first time in a very long time I've not had at least one at home.

So far I'm unable to confirm this, but I'm still working on it.

It's believable that they'd try it.

✋✋

Check out the thread too - imo it‘s becoming clear far too many businesses decided to use AI because of fomo without understanding if it was suitable for them.
Hands up if you've never used Chat GPT ✋

(I feel like Dozer and Tank in The Matrix right now - at first I didn't use it because, rather ironically, I'm lazy and stubborn (peak Taurus energy there) - literally no, don't make me use the new thing I don't wanna. Now I'm glad I didn't 😅)
Probably a good way to tell right now if the job you’re applying for is run by absolute dumbfucks is to ask if they’re using AI.

re last post - it's a lazy list, as there's a number of things that people can easily do today. For example buying vinyl is a popular hobby - I can think of at least 5 dedicated record stores in the city, which isn't including the other places that have a records section.

I've done all of these. tbh some work places have only recently (as in the last couple of years) moved away from faxing documents back and forth instead of emailing them.
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).

I am teh oldz.

Today was a work PD day, which was fine but not really relevant to what I do. As I finish early on Fridays I came home and finally finished some other training that I had been putting off due to how incredibly boring it is to me as I already do what was in the training

If given a choice, I would not have any AI in the programs and apps that I use. I am not interested in using it, not only because what’s on offer is a flawed system, but it’s causing people to do less critical thinking, and less fact checking.

A really good fanvid will get you to watch the show, or at least pique your interest enough to find out if it's available on whatever streaming service you're subscribed to.
The only time I raised my voice in five seasons of LEVERAGE was telling the TNT exec that if he sent cease and desist orders to the makers of fan videos on YouTube that I would quit the show and take an ad out in the Hollywood Reporter explaining why.

Took today off work as I had previously booked an appointment for today back when I wasn’t scheduled to work on Fridays. Turns out to be a good decision as I’ve finished the appointment, met my kids for lunch, and a friend asked if I had time today to catch up for coffee. Nice to be able to say yes!

Not only did my mother, a nurse, give us the sex ed talk, she also gave it to my cousins (at their parents request). We also went to a school run information session, for parents and children.
did anyones parents *actually* talk to them about sex?

its been a plot point in like every TV show and movie about raising kids for like centuries at this point but does it actually happen?

i think "the birds and the bees" speech is entirely a ficticious construct
