BREAKING: The Supreme Court denied an attempt to challenge Obergefell v. Hodges, the case affirming marriage equality nationwide.

Our freedom to marry remains the law of the land.

We already see literally this *exact* same claim from adults engaged in pseudoarchaeological content - that humans could not have [done whatever they're focusing on]. I worry about how difficult education on the past will become as kids who believe this begin to take notice of adults in popular

I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

Anyone else constantly vacillating between wanting to build community (or at least contribute to one) one moment and wanting to disappear into the Appalachian mountains to build a log cabin/rock shelter into the side of the mountain and become a cryptid the next?

Cool me neither.

Trans rights are human rights.

Trans rights are not optional or negotiable.

I hope someday we can make a world where everyone can feel free to be visible and joyful.

As much to myself as it is to everyone else right now:

Un-clench your jaw, take a deep breath, relax the muscles in your neck and shoulders.

There's hope everyday you're still above ground.

Unless you're an archaeologist, then there's still hope when you're in a pit...well...
spite anyway.

The most serious Nazi shit in this extremely Nazi shit executive order may be the idea, just slipped in there, that one of the "divisive narratives that distort our shared history" is that "race is not a biological reality but a social construct." www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Funny how "erasing history" only applies to tearing down Confederate monuments, emphasizing the role of enslavement in the development of the U.S., & renaming military bases named after Confederates, but not to acknowledging historical Black, Brown, queer, and trans folks

Archaeology is proudly international.

If you are an archaeologist working in the USA who has been impacted by the Trump administration's Executive Orders, or Elon Musk's DOGE, we want to tell your story.

Contact us in confidence by DM, email, or Signal, remembering not to use a work device.

The archaeologist for Vicksburg National Military Park was terminated. I knew him because he reached out for help when a landslide disturbed Black Civil War veterans' graves on an Indigenous burial mound. He ensured utmost respect & honor for both deceased & descendants.

Our admin didn't care.

tl;dr - Leave it, take a pic, tell the SHPO. 🏺🧪
What should I do if I find a cool artifact in the US?
Spotting artifacts in the U.S. is common, but archaeologists want you to leave them in place.
