I was talking about Aziz playing Riyadh to my dad and he said you can't blame him because he was canceled for saying something. At least anecdotally I can say some people don't even remember what they think they're defending!
The number of folks in replies to this post who are defending CK, Ansari, and Franken is substantial. The number who are doing so while accurately describing the uncontested facts in those three cases? Zero.

1. in black culture, a way of pointing out structural racism
2. on black twitter, same thing but often a joke about something silly
3. white people adopt woke to mean generic antiracism

some people probably sincerely believe "the record" is a legal thing as opposed to a journalistic convention and I don't want to sound like a snob but that's probably not a great fact about a us attorney
