Wild how the other site is just chock full of Nazis now. It's like a Stormfront Call of Duty server over there.

This is an incredible, refreshing interview that everyone should read.
"Cinema is not just about telling stories. It’s about people having experiences in front of you, where, if it’s transparent enough, they can experience it with you. You become them. They become you. That’s the communion. That’s the experience."--Willem Dafoe

Here's a reply I like for inlaws and relatives who are just repeating talking points I know they picked up from Fox or the radio...

As patronizingly as possible (as though talking to your dim nephew rather than your dim uncle): "Where did you hear that? Did an older boy tell you that?"

Hey Bluesky peeps who just found me. I’m a filmmaker + film lover since I could stare at a screen. Worked as an editor for over 15 years before making a sci-fi thriller/horror/puzzler called Things Will Be Different with a bunch of friends. Check it out 🕰️

Sex and Horror and the End of the World, in November’s Graphic Novels
This month’s offerings include a collection of warped horror stories, an apocalyptic flood narrative and a hero doing battle with a super-being who sees humankind as a race of pests to eliminate.

Montanan writing weird and horrible short fic because I want what I find scary to scare other people too (The Batman Principle).

Working on a debut novel (which becomes more unwieldy by the minute) about cults and cryptids that is really about the twilight of America.

For me, sometimes the pure bleakness of fictitious horror is what gives me strength and hope.

A great example is the film THE DARK AND THE WICKED, which is an ultra bleak, HEREDITARY-style film. It centers on caring for a dying parent, something I've experienced.

BUT THEIRS IS SO MUCH WORSE.

"Judging people's morality by their taste in art is wrong" is obviously the correct point of view, but some people's taste almost feels like it's deliberately challenging me to believe the opposite.

I get that it's not mandatory to post about all events taking place in the world and the decision not to say anything is equally valid BUUUUUUTT, it is kind of wild to see people in the weeds 24/7 on the House Speaker stuff with just crickets on what's being done to Palestinians.

The U.S. establishment is so one sided in its support of Israeli apartheid that when Israeli soliders intentionally shot journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the head, killing her, most politicians still didn't unequivocally condemn the murder. She was a U.S. citizen.
