She already has a form of marraige with no possibility of divorce.
Maria Steen, she of the Holy Handbag, argues in the Times that we should introduce a form of marriage with "no possibility of divorce." Maybe she is too young to remember that we already tried this. It ended very badly for some - that's why we introduced divorce.

My friend, if you want to be staggered, google the equivalent figures for NI.
When Labour came to power in 1997, a staggering 283,866 people were waiting 6 months or more for an operation.

By 2007 the number was down to 199.

Just one astonishing fact I came across while recording this and it's a reminder that government really can change things - for the better.
As the rat infested Palace of Westminster literally sinks into the mud, there's talk that British parliamentary democracy might follow suit.

It's all lightness and larks in my latest for @noosphere.app

Ok. I'll say it. The events in the Winter Olympics get boring quickly.

Even the death-defying stuff has a short half life.

Wait. Someone wanted to be sent to NI?
Says that Mandelson relentlessly undermined Mo Mowlam because he wanted her job and over months - presumably hand-in-hand with willing and complicit media outlets - he hounded her out of her post, and took it for himself.

Right that the prime minister has resigned. His successor, Keir Starmer, has a very difficult inheritance.

What a strangely worded statement from someone unelected and without the power to make the appointment...
NEW: PM’s Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney resigns

“After careful reflection, I have decided to resign from the government. The decision to appoint Peter Mandelson was wrong. He has damaged our party, our country and trust in politics itself.”

the magic of the Muppets is that there are two fourth walls. they constantly break the one that reminds the audience they are performers. they NEVER break the one that reminds the audience they are puppets. this dynamic is the key to their entire comedy style

Many many scandals could have been avoided by giving the middle-aged woman the job.
There was no need to resurrect Mandelson other than as a pay off to him.
Karen Pierce, a highly qualified veteran of the diplomatic service and foreign relations was there and should have taken over the ambassadorial job.
Starmer's conscience, my arse! Starmer has only himself to blame
Labour MPs & party insiders tell me they’ve never seen Keir Starmer so angry as over Mandelson’s lies about Epstein links.

But those who know him well say that anger has now turned inwards. That Starmer is, above all else, a man of public service, and will be grappling with his conscious this w/e.
