a photographer and techie living in Toronto. I used to shoot rolls of film and use BBSes, now I'm here. I focus on infrared landscape and street photography, two great ways to get me off the couch.

For #WorldPhotographyDay I'd like to share my favorite image I've taken this year.

#Toronto harbour froze after weeks of negative temps, I decided to do a photo day on the islands in February. A snowstorm started and the cityscape disappeared, but as I ventured out onto the ice, it revealed itself.

What they don't tell you about parenting is that when they're young adults they can drop *you* off at the concert. Should I ask to be let off a block away?

A Checkered past

Toronto, Ontario - Nov 2019

Keeping up with my personal theme for a week, another abandoned laneway beauty. A Checker Marathon, once an ubiquitous NYC taxi cab, now a relic rusting idle

Our oldest just said they’re doing a history project on Jean Chrétien because he’s “the inventor of the Shawinigan Handshake and also was prime minister” and I have never been more proud.

For CBC Arts, I pop into the history of the cinema snack bar. Once protested —“We are sorry to see our favourite movie house so undignified after many pleasant years,” someone once wrote in the Toronto Star— popcorn has since become a lifeline for a precarious industry.

Remember when the Eaton Centre had trees, and benches?
On this day in 1977, the Toronto Eaton Centre opened! Designed by Zeidler Partnership and Bregman and Hamann, the huge light-filled complex opened in multiple stages, with phase 2 extending the mall to Queen Street a couple of years later.
