Folks being shocked by that Ring commercial is wild.

Millions of people have openly and willingly welcomed AI and “surveillance” into their homes for almost a decade now.

Who did y’all think 🗣️🗣️Alexa was??

He says "Seguimos aquí" after listing Puerto Rico last in the roll call of countries

"We're still here"

A refrain from the residency last summer and an expression of defiance in the face of so many challenges

Williamsburg STAND UP ☝🏽
Incredible detail I just noticed

Benito takes a drink from this woman as he sings "un shot de cañita en casa de Toñita"

She is Maria Antonia Cay (aka Toñita), owner of the famous Caribbean Social Club in Brooklyn

A beloved place for the Latino community in NYC

Peep the LIGHT BLUE Puerto Rican flag in the window

The flag with the light blue triangle represents the Puerto Rican independence movement

For many years it was illegal to display on the island

(Lots more light blue flags forthcoming in this performance)

He jumps off the wedding platform and now we're at a NYC bodega

The Puerto Rican diaspora in New York and elsewhere is a major focus of his recent work

People who have been forced to leave their home and start over elsewhere

I wish Tego was there ☹️
Oh oh this moment was so good

After he came out of the casita, there was a little medley of classic reggaeton jams like "Gasolina" by Daddy Yankee and "Pa' Que Retozen" by Tego Calderón

Throwing it back to the origins of the genre

Can’t believe he did that song (pt 2) 😆☺️

(And for that I’m glad there were no subtitles)
And right before the video clip above, he sings:

My dick is being chased and I want you to hide it
Grab it like a bongo
She took a pill that makes her horny
She fucks in the Audi, not the Honda

I can't believe he did this song I am so incredibly delighted

I can’t believe he did that song (pt 1) 😆
I cannot emphasize enough that what he's singing here, obscured by beeps, is "If your boyfriend doesn't eat your ass, he'd better fuck off"

Yuppp
This song "Yo Perreo Sola" is an anthem about women's right to throw ass in the club without men creeping on them

I’m throwing “thriving” in there because that show was as much a celebration of all that we are as it was an indictment of everything that America thinks it is.

Just straight up forced them to look at how everything they hold dear, everything that makes the Americas what they are, was and still is the product of the labor and thriving of Black and Brown bodies.

Bro literally came out and said “it’s our labor and culture that has always made the Americas great: y’all are just the beneficiaries of slave owners from sea to shining sea,” and I am here for it.
It was transforming the biggest NFL stage in the world into a sugar cane plantation that did it for me.

Like, the multiple layers of turning an American icon into a plantation and highlighting the history of exploitation of Black and Brown bodies by the NFL and American colonialism simultaneously?

Like, I think my ancestors were whispering in my ear when we saw the sugar cane that the spent their lives being forced to cultivate for no pay, with no freedom
If you were hoping for some sort of overt political statement: see the literal plantation Benito created to perform in.

Ma’am it started with a sugar cane workers cutting sugar cane in the fields. He gave the Grammy to Liam Ramos. He explicitly focused on the electric grid crisis in the island. The show from start to finish was explicitly political.
