The number of messages I've failed to respond to this year must be a personal record. If I never* responded to you, I apologize.
*chances are that I still might, but you maybe want to take that with a grain of salt, lol.

Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

Says a lot about my current state of affairs that after I spent months trying to write and send a single newsletter, I managed to still mess it up by stating the incorrect month. This week's vibe: Big Yikes.

What we're witnessing with #Melissa is ultra rare in the history of known hurricanes in the Atlantic. This level of sustained intensity and feasting on every joule of ocean heat content without any real disruption is incredible.

Books are really, really expensive right now. A much touted SFF hardcover release this week ran me ~$50 Canadian. I don't know how that's sustainable for a readership struggling with a crisis of affordability. I know there are ~reasons~ for this, but none of them reduces the sting.

This week: basking in welcome good news & positive outcomes; swimming in anxiety over looming demands borne of said positive outcomes; feeling a bone-deep tiredness from the bodily work of managing said anxiety.
Looking forward to this weekend's Can*Con to alleviate some of that.
