Look, I know we're all sick of hearing "if this had happened with any other president ..." but it's absolutely true and absolutely can't be forgotten.

For some reason, this nation gives this idiotic spoiled brat a free pass from things that would destroy the administration of any other person.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Interesting that Crikey has turned off comments on this particular post and not others. I'm imagining reasons why. My hypotheses (so far) reflect pretty well on Crikey.

It's funny how they're everything they accuse the poor of being. They're pedophiles, barely literate criminals. We pay for them to live, but they barely work. They spend all our money on frivolous and stupid things like bombs and private jets. Dirtbags. Leeches.

It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

Australia Institute research shows the gas industry pays ZERO royalties on more than half the gas exported from Australia.

"Other people in the rest of the world are making a fortune out of Australia's gas exports.... Australia is getting taken for a ride."

Battle to achieve #netzero has two enemies. First are clueless climate deniers. Also are those who attend #COP conferences and achieve nothing. They just talk and talk. Kyoto and Paris Agreements have not been honoured & use of #fossilfuels grows annually. We need new leaders for #climatecrisis.

Yes, our current predicament with climate change demands attention, housing and cost of living are worthy of attention, but I'm hankering for the federal and state governments to be leaders, paint a picture of the future we are aiming for. What jobs will our kids have? How will our communities look?

We need hope now, when the rich are getting richer and are setting up society to make it easier to exploit us and our environment to their own narrow benefit. The rest of us are left with low quality of life (stress!)
We need big actions to fix our sinking society.

A progressive government *should* do things.

Governments *choose* what they do (or do not do).

I wish Sydney would do this. Plant huge sky scraper over a large shopping centre and public transport hub, surrounded by a park the size of a small suburb.
This breaks some people’s brains.

In most cities, Costco stores fuel sprawl & car dependency.

In Vancouver, our full-sized downtown Costco has residential towers above & a skytrain station next door. LOTS of customers don’t drive to it.

We live a block from it. We call it “the convenience store.”
