In a lot of ways, I'm really lucky. I work from home. I write and draw books. I still experience a lot of the same normal creative issues. I'm burned out. My current project frustrates me. Watching Bob's Burgers on repeat while I work. My friends check in from time to time. Text: I got rubber-bulleted by ICE just on my way back from work. Ouch. Text: Hey I'm gonna observe tomorrow at the protest. I'll text every hour, and if you don't hear from me, please call [number] and give them my identifying information. I'd probably be at the Whipple. Okay? Text: They knocked on my door, but I'm okay. I demanded a signed judicial warrant, and they couldn’t provide one, so they left. I’m worried all the time. Very little in the news feels encouraging. ICE agents at a hotel in St. Paul woke up this morning to news that they’re getting kicked out of their hotel today at noon.
Bill Melugin v @BillMelugin_•1h NEW: I'm told multiple ICE agents with rooms booked at the St. Paul Downtown Doubletree by Hilton received this notice today that their rooms are being cancelled & the hotel will temporarily close "due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul." I called the hotel & checked online & they are indeed not taking any bookings right now. They referred me to other hotels. I'm told this also happened today at the Intercontinental St. Paul, with ICE agents with bookings there notified the hotel will be temporarily closing today due to the ongoing unrest in Minnesota. An agent who talked to the front desk manager there says he was told it was done to protect staff because they have been getting threats from unknown individuals for lodging DHS agents. DOUBLETREE by Hilton" ST. PAUL DOWNTOWN Deat Room # * Please know that your safety and well-being will always be our top priority. Due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our hotel, and your reservation will be canceled effective Sunday, January 18, 2026 by 12PM. a reference sheet of a takoyaki mascot with a small snake tail with a toothpick and a paperclip embedding in it's head. there states the lore of the deskmates: " The deskmates were once a batch of festival takoyaki that were left behind at the office as a light night snack, forgotten and cold in the office fridge, wasting away to be thrown out. The spirit of the festival takoyaki still wanted to remain purposeful in the human realm, and saw a certain snake office lady that would stay too many nights in overtime. Inspired by the want to help, they sprung to life, sprouting little arms and feet, in order to help Hibi with their late night work. To this day, if you look closely, you can see the little DeskMates wandering around the office, helping with small tasks."
