2025 #art summary! (sort of) 📅

here's a look back on the things i worked on during 2025. thank you to everyone who has joined me for this ride, it's been a lot of fun! cheers to more yippees and yays in 2026 🥺💙
graphic 1/4 of my 2025 wrapped, which summarizes my year as a creative. each graphic is segmented into two "pages." page 1 (left) opens with a note saying, "2025 was a year where i got to try many new things! as a result, i got to learn a lot and gain new experiences... and for that, i'm eternally grateful. here's some of the highlights from this year!" the first highlight showcases three pieces i created while taking kat tsai's color and light class in february and march. column 1, from top to bottom: my room in 4 different lighting conditions, and a 16 panel color script of shades and sydney. column 2 is an illustration of shades and sydney at the barnacle and dime shoe store. there's a speech bubble from my PNGtuber at the bottom which reads: "fun fact about me! i originally wanted to take kat's class at the start of 2024, but i missed the registration period the first time around. i'm glad i took it in 2025 though, since 2024 helped prepare me for it." page 2 (right) showcases my hobby adventures in april and may, as well as my artfight prep in june. the other hobbies section reads: "after kat's class, i wanted to focus on my other hobbies. i edited a few videos... returned to doing weekly streams on twitch... and coded my own portfolio website! i <3 html & css!" this blurb is accompanied by a 2x2 grid featuring screenshots from those projects. the june (artfight prep) section features the references i made for sydney, minatoast, and whiffy the squiffy, my favorite splatoon OCs. it also features two portfolio pieces: a color key of sydney's apartment, and six color keys of yosuke hanamura in 4 different lighting conditions. graphic 2/4 of my 2025 wrapped. page 3 (left) showcases my favorite artfight pieces from july, and three commissions i took in august. the artfight section features my piece of sakimaru in inkopolis square (top left), thehopes in different styles (bottom left), and a poster for cat's souyo splatoon AU, fresh pick (right). the caption reads: "i made a total of 11 attacks during the season! these are my favorites! i really enjoyed getting to practice color and light. i hope next ear's artfight is just as fun! (and maybe next year i'll try out some new mediums or lean into looser styles... i like to gift oc art!) the commissions section features three art pieces, from left to right: an oc x canon piece, makoharu from free, and a piece that has yet to be showcased. the caption reads: "my first time doing a batch of comissions! i think it went well for me because i used my experience with artfight to figure out my prices and what i feel comfortable offering. i took five comms during this time and i enjoyed working on all of them! i <3 being comm'd OCs and pretty colors. yippee!!!" page 4 (right) showcases my line art era in september through november, and the many projects i took on in november and december (titled, "MY HUBRIS). the line art pieces, from left to right: tenna project icons, character icons of my splatoon OCs minatoast and lee, and a magazine cover of my splatoon OCs who work at toni kensa. these pieces were inspired by ghost trick's art style. MY HUBRIS section features the cover of my 2024 art PDF, minato drawn in 6 of my mutual's art styles (deepseasecret, catnatch, lumamintz, mysticdahlias, darknicjen, and eden), and al 7 of my entries for brush week 2025. a caption below notes that "i will not do this much at once again <- overwhelmed" graphic 3/4 of my 2025 wrapped. page 5 (left) is for honorable mentions to other projects i contributed to that didn't slot neatly into the previous pages. from top to bottom: laine's portfolio site, tai's portfolio site, and the souyo mixtape zine. for laine's portfolio site i built her mockups into a functioning site using webflow and visual studio code. screenshots of her home, works, and about page are featured. for tai's site, i loved arranging the different projects she worked on and doing a refresh of her carrd. screenshots of her homepage, about, and carrd are featured. souyo mixtape zine features previews of my illustration and one of my stickers. a little note reads, "did you know i didn't know wonderwall?" page 6 (right) is where i discussed my overall thoughts of the year. i wrote: "despite everything... i'm still here! and i think that's wonderful. i think that doing creative projects is really grounding for me: it's my anchor and how i make sense of things. while i don't know what 2026 will hold, i will do my best to enjoy the moment and to be kind :) ! yippee!!! thank you for being in my life!!!" speech bubbles of minatoast are used to list out my strengths of 2025, and things i want to leave in 2025. my three strengths of 2025 are: 1) learning new skills outside of art 2) playing around with color and light 3) community and kindness and the thing i wanted to leave in 2025 was my hubris, since "having multiple projects make my stress flare up unnecessarily." the graphic concludes with: "as a side note, i am very curious about low poly models and pixel art... so it's possible i'll try out blockbench 3d or aesprite in 2026! but i'll be happy as long as i'm creating :)" the final graphic of my 2025 wrapped, which is a small doodle of pachirisu, snowman, and minato arisato wishing "happy new year!" on a grid background. goodbye 2025. hello 2026!!!

character sheet of my splatoon OC, whiffy the squiffy, for fourleafisland's brush week challenge. she is a gijinka of the classic squiffer. this version of whiffy is based on the cosmic brush, and draws inspiration from the moon phases, stars, and galaxies. whiffy is drawn in a black dress with a blue fade and stars. a belt with the phases of moon is placed at her waist. the squiffer hairclip and bubble earring have been replaced with star-shaped jewelry. the squiffer is recolored to have a blue and yellow palette, with the cleaning bottle decal showing a drawing of a ringed planet. underneath the squiffer, is director's commentary from minatoast, who made the cosmic!whiffy design in universe. it reads as follows: "dolphin announced a contest for fan designs of whiffy the squiffy while i was hanging out at beau's bakery. i shit you not i was scrolling squitter and leapt out of the booth and did a little dance for three whole minutes before sitting back down. i had to jump on the opportunity as soon as possible, so a lot of my design choices were informed by my surroundings. beau's bakery is filled with star motifs and other items reminiscent of the cosmos! it made for nice reference material and this was the best impulse decision ever. lmao. LONG LIVE SQUIFFER!!! BEST CHARGER EVER 10/10 FULL OF EPIC COSMIC SWAG NO ONE ELSE DOES IT LIKE SQUIFFER. the universe belongs to whiffy and i gave it to her."
