When whatever happens at the top of the Labour Party finally happens and given the sorry mess that British politics has been for years, is it maybe time to fix a broken system? Get rid of the “two party politics” delusion? Embrace PR? It’s apparently good enough for Scotland, Wales and N Ireland.

New on FT website:

Downing Street has refused to say whether Sir Keir Starmer knew Palantir was a client of Peter Mandelson’s lobbying firm when they both visited the company in Washington last February — ahead of it winning a £240mn UK government contract.

📈TrumpRx price for acid reflux drug Protonix💊= $200, with no generic options offered. Generic version of this common acid reflux pantoprazole drug at Walmart and Safeway= just $10-12. Price inflation => 18x. Don’t fall for the scam.

It's not just the decision to give public money and public data to a sworn enemy of everything we stand for, appalling though that is. It's also the secrecy and illegal shutting out of any competition. What does Palantir have on Streeting and Starmer - and did Mandelson give it to them?

The obvious alternative is to regulate the social media companies so that social media isn't a dangerous cesspit... for anyone!

Why on earth won't they?

Back in 2004, with friends reunited (remember that) and more online stuff, teachers were warned about what they posted online as students were finding it

22 years later teachers are posting openly for clout, often with children and this is the new risk they face. We need education for the ADULTS

Interestingly, after I approached Kent for comment I got two responses: one from a spokesperson and a much more punchy denial from someone called Michael Hadwen, who is employed as a “political adviser” to the council leader. That’s a first for me from a council.

Kent rejects this assessment, saying that while the only detail on the projects was two lines in an appendix to a budget document, and that they had not been approved or made subject to a business case, they were a “future cost‑avoidance measure”, and thus legitimate to claim as a saving.

Public profiles of Jeffrey Epstein going back 20+ years present a near perfect description of a massive, hostile foreign intelligence operation directed at the USA and NATO and other allies.

Why was this so widely ignored? What was Mandelson’s involvement? What next?
