A CanCon thread of books I've read!

1. Part Time Girl by @adriaan.braevitae.com. I was gripped throughout this YA story. A super-relatable teen MC trying to do the right thing while dealing with identity challenges and mysterious magical threats. Loved the ending. 💖 braevitae.com/w/parttimegirl
I am seen 💘
I thought I had gotten good at controlling my expression, but apparently only when I wasn’t feeling actual emotions.

Most of the images RT'd into my feed don't have alt-text. Please don't share inaccessible images.

If you're like me and forget to use alt-text, there's actually a setting that will remind you!
Maybe you're forgetful, like I am. You can turn on reminders!

Settings -> Accesibility -> Require alt text.

Done! Easy accessibility.

Going into next week unexpectedly thousands of dollars poorer than we ended last week (our well pump died -- please clap for the awesome plumber who fixed it in the middle of the night in the snow and who will be well compensated) so I should mention that I have books, should books be your thing

Time Loops & Meet Cutes was featured as a best romance novel of 2025 at both the NY Times and ELLE Magazine!

Being Canadian is having your next door neighbour apologize for the WIND blowing a light dusting of snow into your driveway from his snow pile and offering to clean it up himself.

I naturally, politely, declined 😆

This woman was a badass. Also argh. Wish we weren't still struggling on similar points today!
Carrie Derick was a brilliant geneticist.
Despite this, she was paid 1/3 of what her male counterparts made, was repeatedly passed over to head McGill's Botany Department and was told her professorship was just a courtesy title.
This is her story.

I had no idea what I was capable of until I became a caregiver for someone with memory issues who doesn't live near me and suddenly couldn't go home.

In three weeks I have gone from handholding in emerg to setting up their room in assisted living.

I am a boss.

An exhausted boss, but still.

The snow crunches
and I stoop low
so the branch
—bereft like me—
doesn't scratch my face
in protest of my passage
or of winter in general

And for a moment
the branch and I
—in synchrony—
vibrate with our grief
as we log our complaints
with the universe

I loved this story so much! Highly recommend the whole collection, but this one's my favourite 😀
Cayleen is an autistic writing instructor who hates ABA but loves ABBA. She doesn’t believe autism is a superpower. But a lightning strike changes her life, giving her a superpower—with boogie. “Putting a Bee in her Bonnet” is in Speculative Shorts: Stories that fell out of my brain! #BookSky
