(she/her) Poet, editor, finder of lost things, singer of silly songs. Poems in Moist Poetry, Stone Circle Review, CV2, The Fiddlehead & others. Lover of beings that move between worlds. Endearingly uncool. Bestselling poet on a very local level.
But it's good that I'm writing a song about this very thing... maybe?
Only silence perfects silence.

I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

Please text one of your friends who's a mom, and tell her that she's not inadequate, she's doing her best in an infinitely bullshit timeline, and her dreams and joys are worth protecting. I guarantee she needs to hear it today.

Hello? Are you home? A little joy is knocking at your door. It’s not a trick, scam or con. It isn’t looking for something back. You’ll let it in, won’t you? It won’t overstay. Just keep you company for a while. Tend to your sore spots. Hello? Are you home?

I've overscheduled myself for the next two weeks. It's like I'm avoiding any chance of focused creative time, on purpose and with malice.

I have two joyful poems in this issue: one of my froggish pieces and one inspired by a friend who often points me towards happiness.

But this whole issue is absolutely respite. Take a breath here.
We’ll share these little gems individually over the next while. All take just a few minutes (or less) to read. How else will you spend those 1-4 minutes? Doom scrolling? Worrying? Rage-baited? Scared? Lonely? How about a little trade?

Holy crow, I got an actual card in the mail from someone thanking me for writing my poetry collection. Friend of a friend of a relative or something like that. Nobody can't tell me NOTHING for the rest of today. Amazing.

Tell writers when you like their stuff. Man, what a feeling.

While proofreading for something just now, I learned that a symbol denoting a scene or section break in a manuscript is called a “dinkus.” I think that’s lovely.

If a man calls a woman “crazy” please know that it’s actually code for “she is reasonably upset by the compounded experiences of injustice that her mere existence has subjected her to and I don’t want to acknowledge it or I fear I will realize I’ve benefited from the culture of it.” Hope that helps!
