For anyone that ever wonders why the United States decided to use the imperial measurement system when the rest of the world used the metric system, ask yourself why there's now a body of water whose name depends on which side of it you're standing at the time.

I feel like people highly misunderstand how news cycles have changed.

These days theres often very little new news coming out over weekends & holidays, so stuff like this becomes the only news. And people are paying more attention to news while theyre not at work & sitting around.

I once had a client tell my boss I was unprofessional for wearing sneakers to their office & changing into my dress shoes in their lobby.

It was snowing & they didnt bother plowing their parking lot. I imagine they'd have preferred a lawsuit if I slipped in their icy parking lot instead.
A reader asked our fashion critic: "I am seeing all kinds of puffer jackets these days, but can they ever really be professional?" nyti.ms/4rdr7Zb

ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

An ally would have stayed and fought for things like Healthcare and exposing pedophiles instead of waiting till the exact day their own lifetime Healthcare plan kicked in to retire & be replaced by someone who won't fight for those things she claims to believe in.

She's a self-serving quiter.
CNN: In the last couple of weeks or so, she's become kind of an ally on some issues. What do you make of this?

Auchincloss: No, John, she hasn't.

Amazon's "free" return policy is discriminatory towards disabled people. The only options available throught the app to return items (even defective items) involve driving somewhere or paying UPS to pickup the item.

They don't offer USPS returns - who pickup at no charge.

My assumption would be a pivot to punditry / Fox commentator or other similar grift.

She assumed office on 1/3/21, so 1/6/26 will give her the five years required to get a congressional pension and lifetime access to FEHB health insurance. And it'd get her out of the blast radius of a GOP collapse.

Noting the congressional pension is based on service time, it kicks in at 5 years and her retirement date - Jan. 5, 2026 - will be the first business day after she passes five years since her first swearing in. bsky.app/profile/heli...
Any idea why she's quitting then? Her statement isn't very coherent (big surprise), although it would make more sense as an explanation of just not running for re-election.

The government has no business spying on court watchers' group chats.

Monitoring the courts is First Amendment-protected activity. Period.
BREAKING: The FBI infiltrated the private Signal chat of a volunteer group monitoring ICE activity at immigration courts.

Spying on New Yorkers for their constitutionally-protected activism is a dangerous return to the discredited—and often lawless—overreach tactics of the McCarthy & Hoover eras.

Trump’s thugs terrorized our city for just a handful of lawbreakers. We need to get ICE under control before they attack other cities as well.
