I know I have said it a few times before, but it's important.

Local elections matter at a global level. When world leaders have abandoned us to serve corporate masters, those who are leading from the trenches become our last line of global defense.
“Globally, despite extreme heat, floods and devastating wildfires, populist leaders, some sceptical but others in outright denial about the science, are talking up the costs of action rather than the consequences of inaction.”

I can actually understand why people would just give up and elect a far right republican in the US. The US admin would show favour to those that appease, while voting for Dem candidates does not even get you the slightest bit of resistance to the effects of fascism.

This is not true. Votes matter

I am fortunate in that I got to meet Roy Scheider when I was an extra on a movie called the Fourth War.

He was a super nice guy.
Born 10 Nov 1932, actor Roy Scheider. His best-known roles included Chief Martin Brody in Jaws (1975) & the sequel Jaws 2; NYPD Detective Cloudy Russo in The French Connection (1971); NYPD Detective Buddy in The Seven-Ups (1973) & Doc Levy in Marathon Man (1976). He died in 2008. #RoyScheider

Lovely day to cross the Elbe and pick up my Delica from the only mechanic in Northern Germany willing to fix it.

2200 Euros this time around. I do love my van, but this is the last time it gets fixed if it breaks down.

An insanity that is unfortunately driven by the Left as much as the Right.

This anti-science movement is far more scary to me than Fascism.

If climate change does not destroy us, then a pandemic will likely do so instead.

Both are equally preventable if we listen to the facts and act accordingly.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.
