Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year.

That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare.

Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.

Starbucks’ CEO makes 6,666x what the average @sbworkersunited.org barista does. It would take less than one day of sales to finalize a fair contract.

Baristas at Starbucks corporate stores nationwide are on strike to fight this corporate greed and get the fair contract they deserve.

When a glacial lake burst in Nepal, the flood destroyed a village, it barely made the news. But this wasn’t just a remote disaster—it was a warning. Climate instability is here. And so is the political machinery keeping us from seeing it. #climate change #water crisis #climate denial #uneven risk

It was striking to me as I wrote this breaking thread, it's about a Labour government's activity.

Aside from the 'new section 28' furore, this will rightly spark:

Erasing transgender as a word is a travesty and insult to the millennia-old history of Trans+ communities, whom we owe so much
🆕🚨 New statutory Relationships and Sex Education guidance published today will:

- Restrict schools from using materials that "encourage pupils to question their gender"
- Teaches children the laws about "biological sex"
- Removes all references to the word transgender

What we know so far 🧵

New Yorkers deserve a Mayor they can see, hear, even yell at. The city is in the streets.

I'll just say this before heading out. If you're a young person in NYC, THIS IS YOUR TIME. The next couple of decades in this city are going to be shaped by what happens on Tuesday. Be part of the team that is turning the page on politicians like Cuomo. There are better choices.

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.

Remind you of anyone?

Imagine just half the energy campaigning against trans rights had been put into

- Fighting the underfunding of women’s refuges

- Fighting for single mums

- Fighting for low-paid women

Compared to fighting trans rights, which would have had most impact on women’s lives?

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

The SAVE Act is a poll tax.

Over 69 million women would have to get new IDs to vote under the SAVE Act—all of which, except military IDs, cost money.

As @mcclellan.house.gov explained, whether it’s $1,000 or 1¢, no one should have to pay to vote.
