So many things happening, I nearly missed the @newrepublic.com piece I was quoted in last week. It raises the possibility of continued political threats to SNAP, underscoring a point I make often: the best way to politically protect the safety net is to build the power of those who rely on it.

Thinking a lot lately about the simple fact that college allows people to spend about 15 weeks immersed in a disciplinary conversation with an expert in that field. And what a special thing that is.

I keep thinking the *process* of researching is as important as what you discover.

It forces you to consider what impacts and relates to what you are looking for and the context of what you find impacts its meaning.

Well slap my ass and call me Suzy
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

The Tea Party never reached the magnitude of No Kings. Yet it was covered as if it represented “real America,” just like MAGA today. Those are not empirical assessments, but articles of faith – ideological claims about the world that are widely shared in the American mainstream discourse.

I've been harping on using FSA funds because workers lose $4 BILLION in unspent funds each year. I don't think many people even know about the FSA store as just one example of a simpler way to spend some of that money. Use it for others if you don't need it yourself.

Workers Are Losing Over $4 Billion in Unspent FSA Money a Year
An exclusive Money analysis finds that 47% of workers failed to drain their FSA balances in 2023, adding up to billions in lost money.
