Also getting a first look at the bill (we get advanced info under embargo but not the actual text):

The notwithstanding clause would allow the govt to override the Charter, the Alberta Bill of Rights and the Alberta Human Rights Act.

You may recall UCP members pushed hard to bolster the BoR.

Question for #yycbike
My child’s high school only has one small bike rack and it’s always full. What are the best ways for encouraging a school to add more bike racks? Are you aware of any grants that I can help them apply for to add more? 🙏

The UCP in Alberta have quietly announced a ban on covid vaccination for most kids under 12, please report on this and do anything you can to stop it.

They have revised to a two phase rollout, neither of which make kids without severe medical eligible for vaccination.

If I can wear an N95 mask while helping fire-proof a house in 25+ degree heat during the fire crisis in @govnl.bsky.social , then as healthcare providers we have ZERO excuse to not wear them (thereby protecting patients) in air-conditioned comfort in healthcare settings.

I’m increasingly of the opinion that people need to renew their driver’s test (provincial rules) once in a while. This morning, I pulled over to the right curb and stopped to allow 2 fire trucks to pass. The woman behind me was blaring her horn and waving her hand that I should be driving. 🙄

My annual reminder to plant a haskap berry bush (or a few!) in your #YYC yard. It’s one of the earliest bushes to flower and provides food for the queen 🐝 ! At any one time, there are 4-6 queen bumbles in my haskap. And the berries are delicious in late June. Apparently, the ladybugs also like it.

did you know that when europeans asked the Rapanui (Easter Islanders) how the moai (giant heads) got to the shores they would always say that they walked. people assumed it was a metaphor.

so it was a mystery, Rapa Nui never had the wheel, the moai weigh up to 88 tons, how were they moved?

My kids tell me their schools are so dirty that the floors are slippery. I’d like CBE (and UCP) to end this madness and pay support workers a living wage.
From the DM’s…

If you’re wondering what teaching conditions are like because the UCP refuses to pay support workers a living wage…
