Rachel Maddow points out two surprising but mostly overlooked revelations that came from Donald Trump's Oval Office meltdown over his inability to arrange a deal with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. One is Trump revealing the last time he spoke with Vladimir Putin, something about which he is....

A former White House lawyer under Nixon writes:
The Trump presidency is deeply embarrassing. Today, he and JD Vance, went to new lows in attacking president Zelenskyy – a true war hero. Trump and Vance looked weak. Absent their positions they are weak. Today we witnessed way beyond Nixonian abuses of power. It was Hilterian.

I’ve been a member of the European Movement since Brexit. The U.K. has been targeted by Putin for assassinations, corruption and subversion. It’s time for that to be reflected and admitted to by HMG. Let’s call out Fuhrage and his Quislings for what they are.
If you’re outraged by Trump & Vance and want to *do* something…

Join European Movement UK.

The UK needs to get back to being a full member state asap - as Europe needs to unite hard.
European Movement
We're the UK's largest pro-European movement. Our goal is to reverse the calamity of Brexit and restore relations with our European neighbours.

Given that the Trump people did nothing to induce Russia to end the war, it’s fair to conclude that the whole idea of pursuing peace was just a pretext to renew relations with Russia.

What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.

Ukraine has fought too hard for its freedom, only to have its future dictated by Putin and Trump behind closed doors.

Any peace must guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty and security on terms acceptable to Ukrainians, not just to Moscow and Mar-a-Lago.

If it's so easy to destroy the American democracy and turn it over to the country's enemy, then why hasn't it been done before? Or is it only this perfect storm of online propaganda technology and a years-long eradication of trust in the legacy media that's done it?

I stopped listening to R4 when John Humphrys was routinely allowing Gove to gallop through unchallenged non-sequiturs. In retrospect, the BBC gave up on journalistic integrity well before that.
Anyway, look: I stopped listening to the Today programme a while back and am now much better informed. Would recommend you do the same, until they sort their shit out.
