Ok here it is - out of 44 FDA approvals this year, 31 are small molecules (70%), 26 of those are oral drugs (84%), 22 of them are chiral (71%). This is the largest number and percentage of chiral FDA approved molecules in a single year. Fitusiran is not a small molecule, bonus.

Beep was nasty…
For five decades, Beep Fruit Drink was a lunchbox staple for many.
Created and manufactured in Nova Scotia, the drink was very popular.
Eventually though, sales started to decline leading to its discontinuation (TWICE!).
This is the story of Beep Juice!

The chemotypes within FDA approvals so far this year are quite diverse. Most of the 2025 small molecule approvals are chiral with four covalent electrophiles.

It’s England so I appreciate how not everyone ‘gets it’ - but somehow my kid ended up with a moul piece of garlic and another got a brussel sprout from the same house. I suggested that they might not understand the full implications of ‘trick or treat‘ …
Every Halloween, one of the houses in our neighborhood offers kids the choice of a variety of full-size candies or, as a joke, a piece of fruit.

Naturally, my youngest ended up with an orange in their bag tonight.
