Nobody wants to get weird on social media, but I've got thoughts about Skyrim. That's a game that came out 25 years ago, and has had multiple refreshes in the past couple decades. People have opinions, and the company has more legally actionable opinions... but I have some thoughts

Is it weird that the majority of pop culture has been largely influenced by UK artists for roughly 70 years? Like, I don't begrudge Alan Moore, the Beatles (collectively, not individually), Kate Bush, and a trailing number of people that I couldn't account for within the character limit

I'm beginning to notice the scammers following accounts, mostly based on other interactions (reposts, replies) that they peg on the action of replying/reposting. It means that if you reply to a post, a flotilla of weirdos will subsequently flood that thread

Are British people people pissed that they're mostly coded as the baddies in movies?

I've seen quite a few arguments about how wealth taxes don't work, including from @philmoorhouse.bsky.social, but it seems that that misses the point of how damaging excessive wealth accumulation is. Considering that the alternative to a tax might well be guillotines, judges could get on board

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart that you can't take part! You've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus -- and you've got to increase its funding! To make common sense reforms!

I've seen the possible retaliation Denmark and the EU can take if the US actually tries a military takeover of Greenland. The consequences are economically devastating and it's important that the administration and US public are aware of the dangers. But even the best case for the US still *sucks*

Both the Mayor of Denver and the Gov of Colorado are deeply in favor of unregulated tech. They’ve said “regulation is bad for innovation”.

We should reject the idea that regulation and innovation are opposites. Innovation w/o regulation means advancements in scammers, in monopoly, in abuse.
There’s a funny Politico story showing that the latest polling on AI shows 80-20 in favor of heavy regulations, an absolute slam dunk platform, but Dems are worried about not winning back mask-off tech CEO donors

"AI companies’ press releases are anchored in long-term power-purchase agreements for wind, solar, and increasingly nuclear. But the backup systems that underwrite data center reliability—and determine what happens during outages—are overwhelmingly diesel"
AI’s Dirty Secret: Why Diesel Still Powers the Digital Age
AI’s demand for data centers relies on diesel generators because outdated permitting and reliability rules make cleaner backup power too slow to deploy.

The Guard are very loyal to the U.S. Many previously served in one of the four services. So it's foolish for a Governor to rely on them to oppose the Feds.

And they're very loyal to the state they live in. So it's foolish for a President to rely on them against their own neighbors.

CBS really ditching its value proposition to advertisers if they make their long form prestige news program about chasing scoops instead of in-depth reporting on a subject for a large, unique, and valuable audience
Bari’s complaint was “there’s nothing new here” and while that’s untrue it’s also irrelevant

“we intentionally sent people to be tortured in a hellhole and bragged about it and The Hague is too good for everyone involved” is a story that simply cannot be told enough

I cannot understand any music journalist talking to the not lead singer/songwriter of a band and not asking about their most musically complex song and asking, "Hey, was that your idea, or was that guy just being a dick?"
There is no way that doesn't elicit an interesting response

With the Epstein vote short by only one vote from unanimous, if it passes the Senate, what are the chances of a veto override?

How would congressional Republicans feel about actually being able to spite their president?

A worry that I keep having is that some of the hope of resisting Trump's war on America relies on his not having the federal manpower to pull it off, meaning local cops and state troopers won't play along. Governors and mayors have been hit or miss in directing the police so far...

benefits to donating:
- temporary break from work and responsibilities as you convalesce
- badass scar
- you grow your own organ back, that’s kinda cool
- good karma
- you save my life
