A good chunk of my feed is told me to read this essay, and I’m glad I listened to everyone.

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Also Seattle: so there’s this baseball salmon mascot who has never won a race right?

What

“It’s just the sort of home one might imagine for a scrappy organizer, but far from Harrell’s 7,000-square-foot Seward Park home, more typical of a big-city mayor. The incongruity between its diminutive size and the enormous scope of the job Wilson wants is dizzying.”
This is a *staggeringly* biased and dismissive thing for @kromandavid.bsky.social to write about Wilson, who beat Harrell by 10 points in the primary. I hadn’t heard or seen anyone suggest she should run for Council instead until this article. It seems entirely invented by Kroman.
A policy-minded advocate for left-wing causes, Katie Wilson shrugged off the idea she might be better suited for a City Council seat, instead aiming for mayor.

If you want to understand open adoption, it makes sense to start with birth parents—yet studies of them are few. 2+ yrs ago, I began talking w/ birth mothers to try to understand what living in an open adoption is like for them, and what rights or options they might have if challenges were to arise.
When Adoption Promises Are Broken
Many birth mothers hope to maintain contact with their child. But their agreements with adoptive parents can be fragile.

Movies and movie theaters are great.

Watched the Abbott episode about book banning on an airplane yesterday, and I had to go searching for other people mad about it.
Catching up on Abbott Elementary. I can't believe how badly they're whiffing this book banning episode. Did they speak to a single school librarian? We have processes for a reason. I get that it's a sitcom, but usually they're more on top of it than this.
