we've sort of reached the platonic ideal of the paradox of tolerance here. they've repudiated the social contract, thus it definitionally no longer protects them or binds you vis-a-vis them

Like if we put meaningful export tariffs on energy, potash, and lumber it would be very noticeably felt in the US. It would also absolutely fuck those industries in Canada. I don’t think a government could sustain that very long in peacetime
