Homer killing Bart always has this kind of 'it's fine' thing going on. Other cartoon dads killing their sons doesn't hit the same

Always nice to see BBC fans shocked, SHOCKED, to learn that a lot of us don't care if Traitors and Strictly go away forever.

Reading replies and quotes, blissfully ignorant of any way in which it's possible to have a single fond feeling about the BBC
Revealing division in my timeline between (1) my insider friends who have lived privileged lives who are very keen that we defend the BBC and think it's important it survives and (2) my outsider friends who feel (at best) ambivalent about the BBC's survival.

How would the shit comedians married to columnists get panel show jobs without the BBC? Those guys who think puns are a substitute for presence and charisma, what will they do??
I reckon a shared national popular culture is just as important (if not more important) than a fact based, impartial news service for liberal democracy to work.

When there are only two people left alive, one will be Snoop Dogg and he'll be trying to sell something to the other one

Schumer sensed that the future of the Democratic party was somewhat less Zionist and had to punish everyone with grasping, agonising death

It would be funny if Cuomo's campaign shitting the bed was what made a bunch of business dicks say "Wait... people *don't* like AI stuff??"

Bridget Phillipson MP being asked, on Sky News, about Zohran Mamdani’s historic win as New York mayor.

Frankly wild that Wes "That Cunt" Streeting even commented on Mamdani. Like a bug seasoning itself
what is this ‘america’ you speak of?!!

I'm definitely not the only kid who encountered Fievel as a Western cartoon and only later discovered it was a sequel to a movie about the Jewish immigrant experience
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

Pretty miserable to watch the gurning transphobic landlords of the UK Labour party pretend to be happy for Mamdani

Would be great to take some youths back to 1998 and be like "Okay here we are it's mostly the same but what little internet there is is slow and expensive. Alright have fun guys, if you want my advice buy some CDs and build an identity around them."
A friend showed me this screenshot and I started cackling, I was staining my tongue three different colors with OtterPops in 1998 are you fucking kidding me

What are you doing for work when the party dies? Doubt anyone's going to want to hire you.
I don’t mind Tories saying the current laws, rules or guidance on any issue isn’t good enough, providing they at least acknowledge they introduced them and now need the Labour government to make them better.

The country hasn’t wiped out 14 years from its collective memory.
Anna Foster to Chris Philp: "People will think that it sounds opportunistic that you described those laws as extremely fit for purpose when you were in government and you’re now saying that they’re not because you’re in opposition.”

"Remember the good"

The good is that he's dead and gone. That's the only good of Dick Cheney.
Remember the good- he stood up for democracy when it mattered the most. One specific example was when he came to the capital to honor the capital police on the Jan 6 anniversary. He & Liz Cheney were the only Republicans there.

I haven't seen a "Dick Cheney recited the Shahada" post yet and maybe it's inappropriate? Not to him, obviously fuck him, but to the millions of Muslims he killed.
November 4, 2025 at 11:44 AM
RIP Dick Cheney I'll always remember that slashfic of you getting cock & ball torture from a robed Bill Clinton. It was read in the voices and everything.

My grandfather offered to help my aunt with a deposit on a house. He can easily afford to and he doesn't have many years left. Checked out a place, she was really excited.

Then he withdrew the offer, no explanation, and now wonders why his daughter won't see him again "until his funeral."
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”
