My only hot take on Lolita is that people need to actually learn how to read novels. Even writers apparently.
Rowling referring to Lolita as a “great and tragic love story” Jesus fucking Christ. Not only is she a shitty writer but she’s also profoundly stupid and I think we skim over that fact far too often.

I shed a lot of fucking tears today.
Each impacted person is a universe of stories.
This is a campaign designed to terrorize people, plain and simple. It’s monstrous, cruel, and wasteful. We have to keep showing people they’re not alone, not invisible, not dispensable.

Minnesota forever. 🤍

Sounds like a very Texas thing tbh
My friend lives in Roxbury NJ where ICE is trying to buy a warehouse to convert into a detention center and she says they’re trying to fight it. Apparently many of the people fighting are Trump supporters who voted for deportations but are worried the concentration camp will ruin property values.

Exactly right. The people who aren’t getting tired are the ones doing these heinous things.
I know this is the way support for a thing goes. Big wave up front, followed by fatigue. But families here in MN are under siege. Rent is due every month. Kids need to eat. Staying home is what keeps them relatively safe.
They need our sustained attention.

Remember when those Thai kids got stuck in a cave and then Elon sent a dumbass submarine to rescue them and then when the dude that actually rescued them pointed out that it wouldn’t work Elon called him and pedo and then like a million years later we learned that actually Elon is the pedo? Wild.

🎶 Turn the ma-chine on.. 🎶

(Yes, I’m losing my mind)
HASSETT: We have a list of the groundbreakings. It's really quite striking

FABER: Manufacturing job numbers are actually down

HASSETT: That's in part because people haven't turned the machines on yet

“Yes this administration works together on all sorts of issues. Just like when we all worked together to not tell the DNI about our plans to oust Maduro in Venezuela.”
Q: Are you saying that Gabbard's appearance in that area had nothing to do with DOJ action?

BLANCHE: I most certainly did not say that

I think that, in all likelihood, ICE would continue operations during a shutdown. So if this shutdown actually happened (either for most of the government or just DHS) we would not see anything change with the way ICE is operating. So keep that in mind when evaluating this deal.

Reminder that these are the people Vance was talking about during the last presidential campaign when he spread the degenerate, racist lie that they were eating peoples pets.

IDK why right-wingers keep bringing up Obama's record deportations, it just shows that if you wanted to have a conservative immigration policy without partisan militias occupying cities and gunning people down in the streets you could do it and a lot of americans would be fine with it

Jesus if we can get rid of Noem and Miller out of this, we need a fucking national monument to the people of Minnesota. I don’t know what it should depict but at least one part of it needs to be a car whippin’ shitties. Open to suggestions @jessicashortall.bsky.social.

It occurs to me that Russ Vought’s desire to “traumatize” federal workers is really just derivative of the administration’s desire to traumatize the entire country.
January 28, 2026 at 1:33 AM
Look obviously Minnesotans kick ass and are showing their love for their country and the rest of us should marvel at their bravery but I still think that “hot dish” sounds like something I don’t want to look up on Urban Dictionary.

Government still shutting down at the end of the week. They should take this as momentum into that fight and not some consolation prize to be satisfied with.
Not what I expected and not this quickly. Don't want to overstate it. Dems needs to help solidify the checks over ICE.
