The funny thing is, this is not a GDQ exclusive thing.
Even back in the early-mid 2000s where gaming culture was incredibly toxic & sexist, I remember speedrunning being that community that was far more welcoming than its contemporaries by one simple fact that we all had that passion of going fast.

The extent to which Games Done Quick has helped to steer the larger speedrunning community - one of the most hardcore video game enthusiast subcultures there is - into becoming something so welcoming, inclusive and supportive astonishes me

AGDQ is a great example of how an organization of some kind can simply choose correctly and chase out stinky transphobes and misogynists and bigots and be 500000% better for it. they raise more money for charity like, every year. excluding bigots = more success

The Cursed Halo run is a GDQ all timer, bar none. There may be no such thing as an "Ideal GDQ Run", but this is probably the closest I can think of to a run that literally has everything to offer.
