There are too many to name them all, but, let me name a pair: Ryan and Scott, who were part of the folks who ran NetDevil.

Our time together was complicated, but I kept coming back because the games they saw were the games I wanted made and they wanted to make them the right way.
Because I just got emotional watching a thing, I'm going to inflict this emotion on everyone else: Please RT this and shout out someone whose work is important to you. Don't wait to praise our best until they're gone. Give them their flowers while they can hear it and know they're appreciated.

As a guy who's been forced to work with LLMs for a little bit now, I can safely say: Nothing is more infuriating than trying to troubleshoot a technical problem with an LLM...

...so of course "replace tech support" is the first thing corpos did.

KIRO 7 ran an article and two TV pieces on the theft of a box truck full of arcade PCBs, artwork, and machines from my workplace yesterday. If anyone in the Seattle area sees someone offloading a ton of CPS2/NAOMI/Neo Geo PCBs, stuff of that nature, please reach out.

Get your racist nazi ass out of here, JD. You think people who had to sneak into the country to get here can afford fucking houses? How much do you think they cost?

You want to know why they're expensive? Landlords. Plain and simple. Houses are income streams, instead of, you know, HOUSES.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Training your robots on video games sounds great. Cheaply available, complex and varied, the perfect testbed... until you've got a robot army hopped up on 30 years of combat games and adversarial play. Just sayin'.

Obviously these people are, on a literal, factual level, insane. But it's interesting to think about this in terms of what it suggests about the actual function of bus fares and similar user fees: to keep undesirable people out of public spaces.
"The more-than-300 comments responding to that anonymous post are full of mothers looking for property in New Jersey or Florida, predicting that Mamdani’s promise to make buses free will lead criminals to rape and kill innocent passengers."

Democrats need to be very careful about claiming to be able to influence “affordability”. Hard to do. Many facets of the economy are outside the government’s control.
Simple things that are easy to do and easy to explain:

1. Increase the minimum wage
2. UBI
3. Properly fund ACA
4. Fix the tax law

Let me guess, the secrets they were sharing were working conditions and the forum was at a pro-unionization site.

(Not saying I know, just saying that if a studio wanted to lay off a bunch of people who were about to unionize, they'd need a pretext... and boy, does this sound like one.)

Maybe it's worth reminding the "They shut down the government, not the regime" crowd that what really happened is the party in power demanded we choose between providing health care for the infirm or food for the famished.

Does that sound like a thing the good guys do?

A few months ago Jeff Bezos expressed interest in buying Conde Nast, the parent company of Teen Vogue.

Teen Vogue has been a leader in political coverage and critical of the current regime.

I hope the elimination of their political coverage isn’t designed to woo Bezos…
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

It sucks because Direct File was one of the first times a lot of people ever had a positive experience using a government website or service.
IRS Direct File dies a sad, quick death after only a brief time among the living.

Why? It's not because it's a bad idea or that it didn't work.

It's because TurboTax's parent company spent decades trying to make sure they controlled the e-filing market:

I had a very uninformed view of the potential benefits of the Universal Basic Income. I thought my society would be obliged to introduce a basic income for all, as unemployment increased with the evolution of technology. But the prospect of UBI could be a much more positive action.
I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.

This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵
