My wife and I spent yesterday morning shooting skeet in our field. We were chucking the clay pigeons by hand. It was our first time using our (purchased used) mossberg 12 gauge and a fun way to get comfortable with it's operation.

Now is a great time to pick up a gun. Lefties can buy them too.

Fun fact: your local fire departments, EMS, and police are not required to provide services to federal buildings or lands except in rare cases when there is a specific written contract

Renee was killed by ICE in Hennepin County, where Klobuchar was County Attorney.

During the time that Klobuchar was County Attorney, cops killed 30 people.

How many charges did she bring against these killer cops?

A) 30 of course! Murder is murder.

B) Only 15? Half ain't bad.

C) 5?😮

D) Zero?🤦🏿‍♂️
Jen Psaki: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said he wants ICE to leave. Do you want ICE to leave Minnesota?

Amy Klobuchar: ICE, when it does its job, would be working with our police to apprehend violent offenders.

I'm becoming pessimistic enough about government for accelerationism to start making sense.

But, since I don't think nearly enough people understand why what we have is bad and what we need to build instead, and suspect the result would likely be worse, I'm also too pessimistic for accelerationism.

Contact your reps about abolishing ICE. The link includes a pre-filled letter. You can just send that, or write your own.

I added some text about police in general, and the need to completely rethink all of law enforcement as well as disbanding ICE.

🤷🏿‍♂️Um... It already is a daily occurrence?

There were only 6 days in 2025 that US cops *didn't* shoot a person to death.

These shootings mostly happen at traffic stops.

Again, some things that happen to Black people every single day, only become seen as horrific when they happen to non-Black people
After Columbine I thought we would move heaven and earth to prevent mass shootings.

We did nothing and now they are almost a daily occurrence.

Today we watched an ICE thug brutally murder an American citizen in cold blood. A young mother.

If we do nothing this too will become a daily occurrence.

It's interesting to think that there started being a fairly insistent left wing strain in American politics since the W Bush administration which has only grown - and one of the dominant forces in US politics making sure it didn't win wasn't Republicans, but Dems. Hence leftists being sick of them.

Everybody today: hot damn, did you know they can kill anyone they want to out there?

I feel like this is a really critical question right now. For all our reps. Walz is out there saying "we're not going to take the bait" and he'll mobilize the MNNG if PROTESTERS get violent. But ICE has ALREADY KILLED SOMEONE (multiple someones, in multiple states now). How many is "enough?"
I did call my reps again after the last thing and tried in my most civil tone to ask "How many summery executions will it take for you to denounce ICE and call for is dissolution. Is there a minimum? What is the deductible # of executions before you take action?"

Thing is, there are LOTS of genuine progressives working w/in the Dem “establishment!” It’s *beyond* irritating that Online Lefties think everyone working in party politics or nominally w/in “the system” are all Manchin-loving corporatists. We’re not! Change is hard, some folks push from the inside.

I had to enable "adult content". I didn't realize I hadn't.

I don't want to see the video. It's important we know what happened, but it's not important to intentionally traumatize ourselves.

But I do want it to show up and have the option to click it. I want to choose what to see case-by-case.
FYI, on the Minneapolis shooting video: Bluesky hasn't taken it down. It's been labeled as "graphic media" so that people can avoid it if they choose.

You can change your personal settings on whether you see media labeled as graphic (or whether it appears with a warning) here: bsky.app/moderation
Are people unable to watch this now bc it's been tagged as graphic media? Because this is newsworthy and important and that seems like a problem to me.

My FJ's been throwing codes about the secondary air injection valve on the left side. It's frozen shut before, but it wasn't resolving this time so I finally took it apart.

I'm not entirely sure how it works, but that definitely looks broken.

I have a new one on order so I can pass inspection.

I have rarely read something that I identify with so strongly (the quote in particular).
“I believe like Cézanne that there is only truth in nuance."

Because I also believe this, there are certain much-praised films, shows, performances, books, that … just don’t work for me.

Gentoo Linux continues to take what I see as the right path. First they ban LLM contributions (there are details), and now they are moving from github to codeberg.

I love this distro.

An interesting thread.

I joined my local indivisible and found that while I'm happy to take part in actions, I neither feel inspired nor knowledgeable enough to have opinions on organizing actions.

I'll continue protesting and getting into peacekeeping, but I intend to try town government.
Sincere question and I hope we can make a safe place for this discussion, are there people out there who feel like they don't know how to get involved and make a difference?

What do you feel like the barriers are for you getting involved in organizing?

Have you tried and failed?

I've touched and fiddled with systems with VMS, AIX, SunOS, Solaris, Irix, True64, and I think it was an AT&T System V Unix, just somehow never HP-UX.

Of those AIX and Solaris are the only ones I've really used. I deved on a Solaris desktop one summer, and I've ported code to AIX.

But never HP-UX

Yet another analysis showing that inflation (and other numbers) don't show what's going on. This says actual prices for poor families have climbed at more than 2x inflation. Functional unemployement is nearly 1/4. Median income is ~53k.

It is important to understand that what happened in Venezuela did not happen in a vacuum

US media has refused to cover the material and historical factors that led up to the US's special military operation, because if it did, public opinion would be even more negative towards its actions

Trump does 15 bad things at once so it's hard to focus on one, but every one of them is bad and feeds directly into his own interests. Distraction is never the purpose.

Corollary: anyone saying his action IS a distraction is trying to minimize something important, or was duped by someone who was.
really tired of seeing claims that our illegal kidnapping of the Venezuelan president is to "distract" us from the Epstein files. Trump and the men around him have wanted this for a long time. this is a bad thing in its own right, not some attempt to hide from accountability

Also, buy local, buy less. Less shipping = less fossil fuels!

Veggies from your local farmer, apples over bananas, wood from a local lumber mill, or wool clothing from a local artisan made with U.S. wool. And buy quality to minimize replacement.

As always do your best without hurting yourself.
Periodic reminder:

If you use less gas for transportation, you help drop the value of a barrel of oil, which makes the people looking to profit off of stealing from Venezuelans, lose money.
🇻🇪♥️

Take the bus/train/bike/scooter, buy an EV, don't use gas.
Which makes invading Venezuela a much less profitable endeavor.

Venezuela either has "The most oil in the world!" Or "Not that much oil really," depending on what the price of oil is.
🙂🙃

Oil is currently near a 4 year low.

More!
